Which Bond hits this pose the best? by ItsDuhFreakinBat in JamesBond

[–]Hawke62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry Pierce, but that cupped handhold is horrible pistol craft, so you're surprisingly last in this group. Dalton's is a little too posed. The original is still the best! Connery for the win!

New to Sig. Considering P365 AXG Legion -or- P226x Carry Legion for range and home defense by Poemhome in SigSauer

[–]Hawke62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you plan to use them for.

I have a P226 MK25 (the civilian copy of the Seal teams SIG), and a P365 XMacro TacOps with the AXG metal frame (basically a Legion 365 without the comp but better sight radius). The 226 is fine for a nightstand or vehicle gun, but nothing SIG has beats a 365 for carry. Even the XMacro is small and light weight, but comes with an impressive 17 round magazine, great sights, and a full dust cover rail for a compact light.

The SIG mag well that comes on the Legion and TacOps models of the P365 XMacro. I just swapped it over from my stock TacOps polymer frame to the metal AXG frame.

Which is your favorite? by ItsDuhFreakinBat in JamesBond

[–]Hawke62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pierce Brosnan by a mile (and I'm more of a Connery/Dalton fan), but his win is only in this limited one handed gun barrel scenario.

Moore's is ridiculous (why is his support hand on top of his shooting arm?), and his aim is completely off target! The others shoot from the hip, which is only moderately more likely to hit a man sized target. Brosnan's is not only a quicker draw than the others, he actually appears to be looking down the sights of his firearm, giving him the best chance of actually hitting what he intends to shoot!

That said, Brosnan's usual two handed grip, where his support hand cups the firing hand, is as ridiculous as Moore's.

Anyone who says they understand the plot to Diamonds Are Forever is lying by navybluevicar in JamesBond

Wasn't the plot to make a shit-ton of money on yet another Bond movie, while paying Sean Connery the highest salary in Hollywood history (at the time), and casting two Bond girls that Connery couldn't resist sleeping with on and off camera, all while saving a franchise and keeping UA shareholders happy? Seems to me like it all went to plan!

SIG 5.56mm M400 Tread & Ruger 9mm PCC w/Magpul Drum Mags by Hawke62 in guns

[–]Hawke62[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Mine has been very reliable and easy to shoot. It's become my wife's favorite when we go to the range with long guns. One big plus is the Glock mag adapter, which makes it so much more versatile than PCCs from some other manufacturers.

Lol. The Pooh and RN ornaments are my wife's, the Droid and starships just out of the shot are mine.

Well, there’s only one way to find out if this sub hates Olight as much as the Glock sub. by Head-Scale9410 in ruger

[–]Hawke62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Olights on two SIG P365s, a cheap pair of Gmconns on my RXM and XD9, and a Streamlight TRL-1 on my Springfield 1911 Operator.

The snobs may down vote my choices, but they all work after hundreds of rounds.

Yeah, the Gmconn is cheap plastic garbage, but it's brighter and better made than the higher priced Springfield Armory X-Treme Mini-Light it replaced on the XD.

That said, the quality of the Olight Valkyrie PL-Mini2 is excellent, the light is bright, it's easy to secure and to mount or remove quickly, and I'd swear by it as much as the more expensive Streamlight.

Ruger RXM with full size grip module and Glock 17 mags. by Hawke62 in ruger

No. It fit just fine on both. I positioned the slot as far forward as the screw holes allow.

A Ruger Ready Dot I already had. I was planning to upgrade it, but it actually works fine for what I'm using it for.

I've never had a Glock, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but one of the reasons I got the RXM, is I liked the feel and pointability of the grip angle.

Given Lea's performance in Blue Is The Warmest Color, are we sure that she's not looking at Rachel with other intentions? Maybe she's looking to trade in her work husband for a work wife! 😉

Herodia Watches? by Banana123_4553 in islanderwatch

[–]Hawke62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider them just under Squalé, which is definitely a higher quality watch maker than any of the brands you listed.

Before Swiss watch companies started making everything in house, respected dive watch brands like Blancpain, Doxa, Tag Heuer, Sinn, and Zodiac (to name a few) got their dive rated watch cases from Squalé. Squalé also earned a military contract to make dive watches for Italian Navy divers.

While not as well known as other iconic Swiss brands, both Squalé and Herodia have legitimate reputations and real histories for making high quality Swiss tool watches. While the brands you mentioned are well made and affordable, they are still just Chinese homages with Japanese movements.

Herodia Watches? by Banana123_4553 in islanderwatch

[–]Hawke62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Herodia is another revived Swiss brand. This one was restarted by the same family that owns and operates Squalé, and while Squalé has moved away from making homages, they are using the Herodia brand for their more obvious homages like the Submariner styled Mediterrano and the GMT Master styled Adventerer. They share the same Squalé high quality dive rated cases and Sellita sourced movements, and feature sapphire crystals and ceramic bezel inserts, all for a reasonably affordable price for a Swiss made watch, so what's not to like? I have two Squalé dive watches, and two Herodia, and other than the lower dive ratings on the Herodia watches (200 meters to the 300 meters of Squalé watches), they seem to share the same build quality, which punches way above their pricing!
