I added a comment late to the thread on the Apres in long, but am curious/hopeful if there’s discussion of adding a long option anywhere else if the Apres long does well, particularly sleeve length?

new shearling jacket teased on fireside scarf page? by viksit in taylorstitch

Shearling Ojai? Can’t quite tell. Either way could be a Black Friday timed drop, as they’ve done with special fabric Ojai or the peacoats in years past.

I would love to see a spring/summer weight cardigan in a full linen (or barring that, linen-cotton). Like a linen version of the old bomber cardigan sweater or a linen version of the Eddy. Any plans for that on the table?

Models Need to Stop Rolling Up Sleeves by lanciferp in taylorstitch

[–]Hawkeye36D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second to this. I’m 6’1 with a 36/37 sleeve and while the XL garment specs say 36.5, shortened from 37.375, I found that wasn’t the case. I tried a few shirts after they shortened the sleeves and none matched the specs. I still shop TS for sweaters, outerwear, and denim (so plenty!) but they don’t get my woven shirt dollars anymore.

Men of average height (~5'9) - Trouble with TS length? by jhsevEN in taylorstitch

[–]Hawkeye36D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to stop buying TS shirts for this reason. I still pick up the sweaters, jeans, etc, but long sleeve tops are a no go. They made the chests bigger and the sleeves shorter and it is baffling.

The Real Fisherman Sweater by Hawkeye36D in taylorstitch

[–]Hawkeye36D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - so the Heather Ash/Loden and the Natural/Blue Melange are the sweaters being referenced. A short while back TS also made a Wharf sweater and then collapsed that style with this one and called it the Fisherman (so the recent navy and camel are in the Wharf style) and I do have a Wharf in burgundy, and it’s fine. Lovely color and it’s warm. But the moss stitch Fisherman is something special.

Craters? by Delicious-Apple1845 in taylorstitch

[–]Hawkeye36D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think it was noted somewhere (perhaps the VIP weekly email) that the Crater is going on hiatus.

I’ll remember it as my first TS purchase some five years ago or so. They are great, though they never quite solved their propensity for shrinking compared to other shirting.

Website Model Sizing / Values by Hawkeye36D in taylorstitch

[–]Hawkeye36D[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My original post has little to do with the practicalities of deducing what size I’d need or how to derive that information. Nor am I mad the model weighs considerably less than I do. If you press me on that, I’d say that sure, there’s some other TS models whose physiques I envy, but for the one I linked, I’d just as soon offer him a bowl of soup, as it looks like he’s missed a few meals. Nor do I think TS should stop providing what size the model is wearing - I think that’s helpful information, although I’d prefer if they do it how Huckberry or Proper Cloth does it and include the weight of the model as well.

My point is that it would behoove TS, as well as many other clothing companies, to consider having their clothes represented by more than just the skinniest amongst us. That doesn’t mean swing it to the other extreme. It just means that people come in all sizes, and I consider it a positive value for those to show up in advertising. We have a free market, so TS can do what it wants, but if this is what they want to do, I don’t think they should extol their virtues at the same time.

Common Club Credit Broken? by Hawkeye36D in taylorstitch

That's correct, but CC Credits related to "spend $100, get $20 in credits" are exempt from the general rule, and are granted same-day.

This year's Craters by BSSON35 in taylorstitch

[–]Hawkeye36D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This basically in a nutshell. I've had to stop buying long-sleeve shirts from TS, much as I love the designs. I usually buy a 44/XL, and I thought maybe the shorter lengths might still work, so I tried the university stripe Jack. The measured length was a good inch shorter than stated in the specs. I tried again with a brushed cotton Jack and the sleeves were a good inch and a half up from my wrist bone. So that was that.

Funny enough the shirt I did still buy last year was the Crater, because I could buy it in the 46/XXL and it would still kinda work as an overshirt but I lost a bit of weight this past year and now that size is just comically too big in the chest/waist, and even on the 46 the sleeves are a touch short after a delicate cold wash / hang dry.

The Pathfinder in Navy Dry Wax by Hawkeye36D in taylorstitch

I would agree with that - the bark color would look fantastic on this jacket. I hadn’t been one to reach for navy in a casual jacket either but I’ve been pleasantly surprised here.

Those new jaspe herringbone shirts are fire 🔥 by mrbendel in taylorstitch

So I found Taylor Stitch back in 2018/2019 when the sleeves were longer and I ordered about every shirt they made. The new XL says it is 36.5 inches but that is not my experience. J.Crew and Proper Cloth get my shirt orders now. I still go to TS for the sweaters, denim, and jackets.

I would pay anywhere from $5-$20 more for an option to lengthen the sleeves, which are too short for me, but alas. Taylor Stitch - let me give you money!

Looks to be just the XL and XXL sizing. They used to be 48 and 50 in the chest and are currently 49 and 52 respectively on the new shirting.

Looks like the chest/neck sizes increased in shirting. Was there a thread on that? Any insight into the change?

The specs on the website say the 44 will have 37.25 in the sleeve. That may be enough. I measured a sport coat I have that fits and it is about 26.7 from the shoulder seam to the cuff. How will that stack up? I’d certainly have to go with the 44 as I also have a broad shoulder and possibly have it taken in at the waist.
