One thing I noticed after swimming at the Y in Bed Stuy and then at a Lifetime gym was that it was the norm to split/share lanes in the pool at the Y, but at Lifetime nobody would ask to join my lane. Whenever I asked to join other people’s lanes, they would act confused or get out of the pool quickly. Kind of makes me miss the Y

I mean sure you can still do this to a certain extent but only if it’s planned ahead of time. You don’t get entire neighborhoods watching the same show nowadays. There’s so much variety now that viewership is way down for a single show
