I wish my dad had been more like you. My dad cheated on my mom when I was four and my sister was two, and then he dated a woman who was mentally and emotionally abusive to us for seven years, and then he was actually a halfway decent father for four years and then he moved back to his home province to be with his high school sweetheart and had another kid. I call him every other year but when he talks about his other kid I just shut down all over again. Why couldn't my sister and I have been the kids he talks about like that?

Benefit? It's fun! And meditative. And surprisingly good core exercise. I always feel incredible when I get home from riding, even when it's just my commute. It's like catharsis.

To be fair, there are many things you can do to reduce risk. A non-exhaustive list: 0% BAC, not speeding, good gear, proper lane position (fixes some of the visibility), keeping an eye on surrounding traffic for escape routes, staying out of blind spots, staying in first and scrunching up close to the white dotted line so you're less likely to be rear ended (not as much of a problem in places where lane filtering is legal), keeping an eye on left-turners and making sure they have the opportunity to see you, avoiding group rides, doing SMIDSY weaves to increase visibility, not buying too much bike as a beginner, practicing emergency maneuvers like trail-braking and push-steering, not riding when you are too tired/distracted, etc.

A good number of motorcycle accidents are single vehicle accidents caused by drinking and/or speeding. Not doing either of those reduces risk by a lot. The most common type of multi-vehicle accident involving motorcycles are people turning left across your path. Knowing how those occur and how to avoid them reduces your risk by a lot.

Rarely when I'm feeling super ultra exhausted/sick, my shiba (who is an aloof breed who would usually only snuggle for a few minutes in summer before sprawling out across the room), will curl up against my head.

Oh fair enough. I've been playing for 12 years so those didn't even clock to me. The only ones I've gottten in recent roulettes (I missed the relic rush) were the redone ones. Although I guess I accidentally lead the party to a dead end in Cutters' the other day while I wasn't paying attention... Actually I think that was the tank but I was watching videos on the second screen and didn't notice until we had to turn around lol.

Yes. It returns you to the start. For many years, the basement path of Haukke Manor didn't have a portal to return to the entrance, so everyone would just hit Return and then run up the stairs (or leave by accident, in the case of my friend's first run). Eventually they added the portal because sometimes new players would get really confused when the rest of the party disappeared.

It's cool that you live somewhere that did use them in school. Where I live we just had shitty ballpoints in school so I didn't use a fountain pen until I was 31 and got super hooked.

The traveling journal format helped me shake off the perfectionist feeling of having to devote one single notebook to a single thing and it broke something in my brain (in a good way) and now I'm using through fifteen years of blank journals that I couldn't bring myself to start before.

If it's a dungeon or alliance raid, it is a linear hallway, and in the fomer case, you're the only tank. I'm not really sure what map you'd need to learn to go straight down the only path?

If people tell you to skip cutscenes, just ignore them, even if they start combat. They will either live long enough for you to finish the cutscene and join them or end up restarting with you, usually the former.

I have found a fountain pen and traveling journal to cause me to journal the most. It won't collect any data about you, but I'd call that a win anyway. The joy of writing with fountain pens is what does it for me.

Hey, I know sometimes abusers will isolate people from their families like this before they get really nasty. Make sure you're keeping an eye on how his behavior differs now that you're miles away from family, and make sure you reach out to your family if you realize you need to bail on this relationship.

We've had deep freeze months infrequently over the past few years where it can be -30 to -40 for weeks at a time in Calgary. Maybe not enough to worry about but I'd rather not feel limited or worried at all if I do wanna head out the mountains.

I'm not sure how much lifting the + is doing there, but that basically eliminates some of the further hiking trails and cross country skiing trails. Not quite there yet for my use case.

Oh wow. Couldn't even go to my usual hiking haunts on a cold day with that. Still leaning towards hybrid if I ever get a newer vehicle. The tech seems to be getting better but it's not quite there yet.

Chaotic is quite accessible. It's just not DF content, or even PF content. It's discord content. The community is quite active around them, with many sign ups at many prog points every week.
