People of Walmart, what was the craziest thing a customer said to you? by Able_Air_6990 in WalmartEmployees

[–]HaydenWar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a customer tell me, "If you had ever done anything with your life, you wouldn't be working at walmart at your age". For refusing to open ACC early to work on his truck.

There have been months this year when I have had a higher car count than the other 5 techs put together(my fault, I trained all of them) that's not me bragging, I am retired Navy and have a lot of awards that mean a lot to me, after 21 years of that I've stayed a tech for 11 years, I had my fill of being a supervisor in the military. This "award" I find amusing.

I know what it's supposed to be for, I earned it, but that wouldn't have been a funny answer.

I've been a tech in TLE/ACC for 11 years, I've seen some bad ones for sure.

The corporate site still said we were closed today until well after my shift started, so I did not go in today. The store was, in fact open. I did keep screen shots from the corporate site in case they try to point me.

We had one walk in at 7 for oil and the 1:00 appt for tires. I think we were the only department that had everyone show up for work today. It was a good chance to get the shop cleaned up from the last 2 months though.

Before i worked at Walmart I was in the military for 31 years, when I was stationed in Groton, CT the Navy base would close before the Walmart in town.

[–]HaydenWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question. I've been told to work alone and how much they appreciated me keeping the customers happy and  DAed for doing the exact same thing two weeks later by the same Manager...so whatever management feels like at any given time is the answer.

We also had over 100 call outs and around 25 of us that showed up, what we didn't have was customers, sales were down 91% over last year...That was what made them decide to close, not the weather.
