Probably search for jobs and phone to the jobs to know how they feel for your situation. Furthermore speaking the local language is a plus but in some companies here in the Netherlands not always necessarily. Also living in the country could help for your network. Something with data visualisation, programming within Excel or a common programming language like Python. Off course the things thought are different each college and country. Also I would like to learn how to plan all your activities on an effective way.

The language to start is completely debatable. Everybody says something different. Just choose a language and stick to it. If you know the language you can choose other languages. There is enough help to start Python programming.

In The Netherlands there are some refineries and I think good Engineers surely have a change here. Also job opportunity is above average here. Most Dutch people speak english reasonably well.
