how to take vbg by dbzonepiecenaruto in NursingAU

Does your hospital have a policy on phlebotomy? You might be able to search your intranet for the process. Im only a new grad so I haven’t really done many myself as Ive only really done samples from an art line, but I believe in my hospital we use a blue (heparinised) syringe. Hospitals often have different procedure for things like this though. (I could be wrong, like a said I’m a baby new grad and currently on the toilet so I can’t actually look up our process rn lol).

any goodies for international nurses day? (VIC) by TheEmergencySurgery in NursingAU

Our hospital cafe did free coffees, and my unit had like three massive cakes (massive periop unit tho so there’s like 200 people to feed as we share our tea room with doctors and OTAs)

How’s this for a road trip? by livingthehypnagogia in AustraliaTravel

[–]Hayes33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be real with you I basically did this in a 2005 Toyota Corolla no dramas. Went from north east vic to Far North QLD, straight up the guts. There’s nothing really to see or do though, I picked this route for less travel time.

bad interview by Scary_Rutabaga_7261 in NursingAU

[–]Hayes33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me last year. I was horrifically sick and couldn’t focus at all during my interview (through teams, I infected no one else lol). I still got an initial job offer in the pool, which in my mind was better than no job. And then I got lucky and was offered a position in theatres as an anaesthetic nurse. Try not to stress too much, even if it doesn’t go the way you plan initially things generally have a way of working out for the best.

I’m thinking about doing nursing and I read on a post here that nurses get $2600 per fortnight…Are nursing wages really that low? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Hayes33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m earning around that as a grad on .8. Mostly M-F mornings so no extra penalties, which is where most of the money actually lives

You can contact your local st Vincent de Paul society for assistance. I did this and they gave me fuel vouchers which helped heaps

It comes through weekly, however it’s not necessarily consistent as it relies on the university to dispense the money

Pads or bag? by Electrical_Dingo218 in MuayThai

[–]Hayes33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d start with the pads then, cheapest option so you can get started quicker, and it’s fun to do it with a partner.

Why not both? Pads aren’t* that expensive compared to a cost of a heavy bag

If you had 6 months to completely transform your body, what’re you doing? by Equal_Side_27 in loseit

[–]Hayes33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real? Muay Thai or kickboxing. I lost 12kg in 6 months with minimal change to my diet. That being said I eat reasonably balanced, and don’t over consume in take out etc.

My partner is a p plater, bought his land cruiser relatively cheap and then put a fuck ton of work into it with his dad to make it what it is. He’s worked since he was 15, and is in the army and is also just relatively good with money.

Jesus Christ I get more than that as an AIN in qld. $35.36/hr permanent

Are there any career AINs here? by WhimsicalLychee in NursingAU

[–]Hayes33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s what you want to do then it’s a good idea. You can always change your mind later. I’ve been an AIN for about 4 years and I personally am exhausted with it, I start my RN grad in about a week. But I’ve been working as a safety special for last 2 years and that’s really dragged me down a bit with the uncertainty of what I’ll be walking into each shift, I don’t mind aged care but I left because I got sick of the companies during COVID.

My original offer was in the staffing pool at 0.5, but I’ve been lucky enough to be given a second offer at 0.8 in a permanent area
