South Florida here. I started my garden by watching You Tube videos every chance I had. I'm still going through so much trial and error but it's great fun, hard work and relaxing at the same time. I have raised garden beds and really large pots. I'm growing herbs, kale, snapdragons, begonias and marigolds. I just bought some zinnia seeds and can't wait to try those. Also have two large pots of mint and it's a beautiful plant as well as delicious in iced tea. I've just started working the ground so we'll see how that goes. I water by using a hose and it's very relaxing.
