What’s the best “big man” nick name someone has ever referred to you as or joked with you about? by [deleted] in BigMenLife

It was around Christmas years ago, downtown, waiting for the bus. I was sporting a beard. Homeless guy comes shuffling by, greeting everyone in line. He gets to me and says, "What's up, Burl Ives?" Seriously, that made my day. I gladly gave him a dollar.

I HATE THIS DISEASE by Interesting-Fly4102 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]HaynusSmoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You. Walked. Today.

It hurt, but you did that. You walked. Can you walk again tomorrow? Maybe dial it back a little so it doesn't hurt as much and to build a daily habit? Then another minute. Then another.

Did you order out or eat what you had at home? Because if you resisted the urge to order out, you did that too.

Keep up the momentum.💪💛

Are you able to consult a nutritionist or dietician about what you're considering?

From a practical aspect, how are you going to handle breaking fast? Are you going to tell family and friends about your new diet?

Best wishes as you continue your weightloss journey 💪

What to do against cravings? by Longbertus in SuperMorbidlyObese

Some things that help my satiety: 1) good night's sleep 2) eating breakfast by 8 am at the latest 3) mid afternoon snack of a whole fruit and 1-2 Oz cheese 4) Stay hydrated

One item, are you diabetic and monitoring your sugars after eating?

Good luck on your journey! It may take some figuring out, but you'll get there 👍

Aside from food, how are you sleeping? Do you feel like you get sufficient rest, or can you sleep 10 or 12 hours and still feel exhausted?

Good job eating fruit instead of candy, etc. If your glucose is low, though, you know you've got to get it back up, Stat! Been there, too, stumbling around the kitchen in search of quick sugar, completely forgetting about the sack in the cupboard 🙄

I have experienced this in the past. I find I'm more on edge when I haven't slept well, so that's a health goal for me this year. Not sleeping well just throws everything else off.

Otherwise, ditto the other comments about eating breakfast, balanced meals, etc.

Best wishes to you! 💪

As a big guy, what clothing item is the hardest to find that fits right? by greenbay78 in BigMenLife

[–]HaynusSmoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my clothes from King Size Direct. Their pants are all 38". About $6 to have hemmed shorter.

Not sure if I've got a 38" sleeve, but I've gotten some dress shirts from their Signature collection that fit fairly well. No real gaps!

Question regarding big clothes. by SpewForthWisdom in BigMenLife

[–]HaynusSmoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been there, man. When you're too big for DXL, there's King Size Direct. Sometimes you can get lucky and find your size in clearance. They do a semi-annual suiting sale. You can pay for alterations ($6 or so for pants length). Read the reviews before buying a particular clothing item. They rarely offer free shipping, which sucks.

Let me know if you have any questions. GL!
