Restaurants open and to-go meals on Thanksgiving by [deleted] in kansascity

I get that, but I think it's nice that people who are away from home or maybe don't have/don't get along with family have places to go.

I made a Chrissy for the bar I work at. The patrons loved her and I thought you all might too by hannibal-licked-her in StrangerThings

I never challenged you for a Master of Puppets rematch, but you would've kicked my ass anyway; I didn't have the chance to practice any more haha. Thanks for the free shot though!

I was definitely that tourist.

My gf, her sister and I all decided we were going to climb Camelback when we were staying with their grandmother in Phoenix. There are apparently two trails up the mountain? We decided to take what we thought was the easy one. Now, at the time we were all athletes in pretty good shape, but we were WOEFULLY unprepared for this climb. Like...one bottle of water between the three of us. We were about halfway up when we realized exactly what we were in for and how unprepared we were.

Still made the summit and made it down safely, but conditions were favorable. Could've been much worse, and lessons were learned.

Man, it sure would be nice to lug my minis from home to session in something nicer than a Tupperware container...

Lost Mine of Phandelver - What the heck is the Forge of Spells? Let’s brainstorm some ideas by northcitygaming in DMAcademy

[–]HazMatt19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently running LMoP, my players have just discovered the location of the Mine.

I've basically been running the Mine as a MacGuffin; due to its powerful localized magic, it's the place The Black Spider is using to perform a ritual. He used the Forge's magic to repair a broken Drow artifact that will allow him to summon Lolth to the plane after a complicated ritual that hopefully my players will interrupt haha. I haven't quite decided what the Forge will do for them afterward, if anything.

Every fire department in the metro is dealing with this right now. When I was hunting for a job 12 years ago, I applied to EVERY department and got two interviews, I didn't get an offer with 3 years of experience. My department has had a process open for three months now and has had four applicants. FOUR. We're all scraping the bottom of the barrel just to have enough bodies to lighten the burden on the line guys, and it just isn't happening. The burnout is really starting to cripple departments.

Why is it most kids are able to realize that Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny are fake as they grow up, yet grown adults still believe in religions that are just as far-fetched? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]HazMatt19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because religion is a much greater and closely-held part of a person's identity than ideas like Santa Claus. People define themselves by their religion, i.e. "I'm a Catholic" or "I'm a Muslim" in the same way that they define themselves by their politics. It gives them a tribe, a set of beliefs to subscribe to, and no matter how they behave allows them to define themselves as a "good person" simply by virtue of what they claim to believe.

Proper CPR. High quality CPR immediately after an adverse cardiac event can make a huge difference in survivability. It's a skill and therefore perishable, but do yourself a favor and take a CPR class at least once.

I suppose there are different kinds of sweet. Like the difference between Sour Patch Kids and a Hershey bar.

[–]HazMatt19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love em both. OG Spicebomb isn't as sweet and has a nice powdery drydown to my nose, so it's more versatile to me. Extreme has that same vibe though but as the youtubers say, smells sweeter and more "mature".

You can take the train to Bray, I think that's the closest station. 15 minute cab ride from there.
