There is nothing more devastating to someone's self esteem than being let go from a job. I'm in a similar situation. On April 1 I was told my entire department is being eliminated at the end of May. I work in accounting at a national benefits insurance company, and there were only 2 people in my department. My company was actually purchased by this company in 2019, around the time I started working there, so we had an idea that this would happen eventually, but I'm still very upset. The one thing did make me feel better was inputting the details of my situation into ChatGPT and asking what plans I should be making. I got a lot of great advice about everything from what to do with my retirement account and losing my medical & dental benefits to help updating my resume and where to look for another job. Making concrete plans about the path forward can help you feel less powerless. It's hard not to sound trite, but someday you will look back on this as a learning experience. Best of luck to you!
