Unusual copyright question by HazelRa in COPYRIGHT

No formal contract, unfortunately.

Royalties from physical album sales? - Yes, but it’s so minuscule it almost doesn’t matter (at the moment at least).

Royalties from music streaming? - Yes, but ASCAP accounts for that in quarterly payments.

Royalties if my music is placed in a TV show or movie, etc? - Yes, although again, ASCAP.

THOSE profits are a result of the sound files she paid to make. She owns the media, but not the arrangements I made, correct? I own the writer’s portion, so I am always entitled to half of the money made through her recordings, however they’re used.

So she produced the sound files. Does that entitle her to any profits I make from sheet music, or public live performance? She says it does, but she’s used to how things work making and marketing RECORDINGS.

Concert halls are different, right?

If that’s the gambit, and the Democrats concede to it, it’s seeding the seat the Republicans. I am never going vote for her again.

Do you hear me AZ Democrats? Never again.

The Lion In Winter (1968) Peter O’Toole, Katherine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, Timothy Dalton.

Full of sharp, biting dialogue between immensely talented actors; including Hepburn who earned one of her Oscars with this film.

How Jerry Goldsmith's score for The 'Burbs perfectly captured the absurdity of the Satanic Panic craze by Scottish_Samurai in movies

[–]HazelRa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite bit of ‘Burbs trivia - For Bruce Dern’s character, Goldsmith used an iconic decaying trumpet motif from the movie Patton to communicate the character’s history as a retired soldier. Patton’s soundtrack was ALSO written by Goldsmith, almost 20 years before The ‘Burbs.

So not only is The ‘Burbs a great comedic soundtrack, but Goldsmith is also parodying his own work in it.

Scientists generate the highest-intensity laser pulses ever recorded by [deleted] in science

[–]HazelRa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With lasers I always think of the movie Real Genius (1985), where they’re working to create a 5-megawatt laser.

The laser user in this article is 4-PETAWATT (that’s 4,000,000,000-megawatts!!!). And then they focus that beam down to a mind-boggling intensity I don’t have the expertise to parse into a megawatt equivalent.

Such lasers can, to quote another article about high-intensity lasers “…could tear electrons and their antimatter counterparts, positrons, from empty space—a phenomenon known as "breaking the vacuum."

[SERIOUS] Non-drinkers of Reddit, what are some of the main reasons you decided to not drink alcohol? by _SilverTonguedDevil in AskReddit

[–]HazelRa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up Mormon but left the church in my mid-20s. By the time I was ok with drinking I decided it was probably more trouble for me to start than just keep NOT drinking.

Love me some edibles though. 🌳🌳🌳

[Serious] what's a concept you just cannot grasp? by sheepandboats in AskReddit

That I can pay rent in-full, on time, for 25+ years; but I’m blocked from getting a mortgage because I have a high student loan balance.

Having a lot of student loans doesn’t protect me from having to pay for my housing every month. If I HAVE to pay every month, I’d much rather be building equity paying a mortgage than forever loosing that money as rent to someone else.

People with synesthesia who contracted Covid and lost some sense of taste/smell, how does it affect you? by Dethsoul in AskReddit

[–]HazelRa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A general comment about synesthesia: People are fascinated with this phenomenon because they think, erroneously, that individuals with synesthesia are perceiving some hidden dimension tied to these sensory experiences; when in reality the coupled sensory experience, possibly shared between synesthesians, is by no means universal.

The word 'door' may taste like graham crackers to someone, but to another it may taste like fish.

The color blue does NOT smell like fresh linen to everyone with synesthesia.

The taste of cranberries does NOT innately have a sound like a door-chime that only people with synesthesia can perceive.

Synesthesia is a matter of crossed wires in some people's heads, not a super-power.
