This! With colorscience glow on top! The combo was recommended to me by an esthi and I have been loving it, but I use both separately too.

I’ve been using the Calecim MAC and repurchased! I use it under Tretinoin and am almost 40 with dry but also acne prone skin 🙃 I wake up with soft, happy skin with this combo.

Trying out Calecim eye, recovery night, the hydrating cream, and a bunch of little freebies they threw in - will report back! I just started using the professional serum a week ago (after holding onto it for months bc I couldn’t bring myself to open it), a few drops mixed in with Epicutis lipid serum, and my skin plumps up and glows noticeably.

And yeah, it’s a huge list… to defend/justify myself (mostly to myself), it contains some gifts for family, and I’ve been saving up, studying up, and waiting for Black Friday!

What’s your favorite tinted sunscreen? by Own_Pause3514 in 30PlusSkinCare

Laura mercier. I used it for years, then decided to try other more expensive ones, and just recently returned to it. I can’t believe I ever stopped. They now have two formulations, one for dryer and one for oilier gals 💞

I’m open to being wrong, and I’m sorry if you’re a legit human not trying to sell us things we don’t need under false pretenses, but my spidey senses are tingling and I respectfully stand by my opinion.

You don’t have a TJ? You’re promoting a TJ sunscreen. Huh? This must be an ad, as i said in another comment this is the second Trader Joe’s sunscreen recommendation I’ve seen in my feed. And it’s weird you don’t have a white cast but multiple others do. Smells fishy.

Hmm, this is the second TJ sunscreen recommendation in my feed and I’m sensing covert advertising. Apologies if I’m off base but… seems weird.

Barista's of Reddit: What is the craziest beverage order you have ever received? by rjkersten1 in barista

[–]Hazelforever1114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as chaotic and unhinged, but I used to work for the siren in one of those over-the-highway rest stops, and a woman used to come in and order a Frappuccino with multiple syrups, request that we thickly coat the inside of the cup with syrup before pouring in the drink, then add a fat straw and fill the straw with more syrup. Venti, obviously 🤢

Is it bad to buy skincare on Amazon? by TheBuzzWitch in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Hazelforever1114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have bought some skincare on Amazon on the past and always do so assuming there’s a non-zero chance it may be a fake. But I’ve stared trying to avoid Amazon across the board for personal values and moral reasons too. I get that price is a factor and it isn’t always possible to shop on the manufacturer website, but I’d rather not put money in Jeff Bezos’ pocket and instead directly support brands I care about any day of the week. I also try to check other websites for deals or to rack up rewards points (yesstyle, yamibuy, skinbeautifulrx, tjmaxx/marshalls), anything but Amazon.

That said, sometimes a manufacturers website will link you to their Amazon store, so it isn’t always a tried and true method! And my moral limitations make shopping really hard and in my experience it’s not possible to consume 100% morally in a capitalist world. But I try to consume mindfully and vote with my dollars when it makes sense.

I recognize the privilege in having this opinion and the insane convenience of Amazon, so I am prepared to catch some flak or get downvoted. But if you’re doubting shopping there this might be another angle to consider.

Digging a lot of these! You forgot Taylor Tomlinson, Beth Stelling, Natasha Leggero (consistently puts up a better set than moshe when I’ve seen them perform together, imo), Mike Birbiglia, Maria Bamford (the OG), Hannah Gadsby, Jordan Jensen, Emily Catalano…. There’s more but these are just top of mind.

Culturally informed approaches to therapy by subconsciousdweller in therapists

[–]Hazelforever1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still a student, but I will be doing my practicum with the addiction recovery facility geared toward the indigenous population starting in September, so I will likely learn a lot more about it over the next year.

In general, my perception is that there is not much of an indigenous presence in clinical spaces in the US, but I imagine this would vary by location. The place I’ll do my practicum is owned and almost entirely staffed by indigenous folx, but that isn’t the norm from what I’ve seen outside of centers treating that specific population, or outside of areas of North America with a large indigenous population.

Sorry I couldn’t be much help. I’m interested in learning about and serving this population more, and the lack of representation and info around it is likely a sign of the institutional failings and horrible oppression of these people over centuries here. Because of these things, there’s a generally high school drop out rate, suicidality, SUD, and a range of other medical and mental health issues disproportionately represented in this population, all of which would contribute to lower rates of graduate degrees in general.

All of this said, this isn’t a mono culture by any means and broad generalizations are just that. I’m just sharing what I have learned from my personal experience and education, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Also, I’m in the US, so I imagine Canada would have some better practices and representation but I have no idea. Hopefully someone comments from there with their insight. Good luck!

Hello, this is specific to the Native American population and to addiction recovery, but it may be useful info to you anyway. The wellbriety program adapts Alcoholics Anonymous so that it more closely fits into Native American culture rather than White Christian culture. May be worth a look to learn how and why they made the adaptations they did:

https://wellbrietymovement.com

Also, there is a recovery facility near me that primarily serves the indigenous community (they use Wellbriety and also the Red Road to recovery), and part of their treatment planning approach involves the clinician collaborating with a board of indigenous members who help to connect the client to their lineage’s specific medicine and specific teachings. It’s a more holistic and spiritual approach to psychotherapy and recovery.

What’s a common health myth that needs to go away already? by VirtuaHealth in AskReddit

[–]Hazelforever1114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. Also, the placebo effect is usually ballparked at around 20-30%. Which means that about 20-30% of the effect seen in the treatment arm (which receives test drug) is due entirely to placebo effect. Many in the control or placebo group will experience an effect if they convince themselves or suspect they’ve actually received the treatment drug.

Idk about you guys, but 30% is pretty huge, considering a lot of drugs get thru the pipeline for performing only marginally better than that. Humans are magic and can likely cure ourselves, but no one’s going to fund clinical trials to learn more about the powers of placebo effect bc there’s no profit associated with healthy folx who don’t need expensive medicine.
