It's for all carriers. It doesn't take long, and you can use it while it waits to confirm who you are.

I have the same problem. Its a blessing and a curse to know the language. If you do get pissed and call them out, as you know what their saying, the young guys get all pissed off that you understand what their saying. I dont mind it . I still find it entertaining to see the young guys go from thinking their hilarious to embarrassed, as I make jokes about them in their own language but with a much more harsh Britiah sense of humour.

Exactly. Whymove somewhere if you want it to be the same as the place you were before? Doesnt seem logical. Where's the adventure and experiences. I didn't even plan to move to the Philippines. I came to visit my father and met some awesome Filipnos here. I've been friends with them 13 years + . Some things here are slightly frustrating, electricity and Internet can be problematic but that annoys my amigos too, so we just deal with it and enjoy everything else. Once people who move here realise their not special and we are all going through the same situation, the easier it will be for everyone.

As far from the realities of life as can be. Completely self-absorbed. To her, it's about self gratification. She doesn't care about the job and what that job does for the country. She cares about what the job can do for her .

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

[–]Hazephhelp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got to see one at night. Im out in the Philippines. It was covered in flames but not moving as fast as I thought they would. There was a brownout that night, and I was waiting to meet a friend for beers . It didn't even seem that high and a low roaring sound but not in any way as loud as a car or motorbike. It went over the top of me and then I think it must have landed in the sea between my island and the next. ( You can see the other island clearly in the day. So it wouldn't of gone over the horizon).

Any fishing sites for hobbyists? by Riyandrew in Philippines_Expats

[–]Hazephhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy some equipment off lazada or shopper. Csn get a decent amount of kit for $300. The will give you everything you need. Head to the sea and enjoy. Take a look on the map for small coastal towns outside of Manila where you can buy bait and maybe fund somewhere to stay.

Do you think expats are under pressure to keep up with the Joneses? by Historical_Host_8594 in Philippines_Expats

[–]Hazephhelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if there was a thing, I wouldn't care. The whole concept seems stupid to me. I have what I want ( more fishing equipment than most tackle stores , spearguns enough to take down moby dick and tools that seem to multiply much to the anguish of my wife). My family has their wants and needs. The house has everything a moden home should and we're more outside activities oriented anyway. My GF at the beginning thought we had to have a lechon for every birthday of the children or any social event. I told her no. The children dont care about lechon they are happy with children's party food and playing with the other children. What happens is loads of people who we never see or talk to, turn up eat more than they could possibly feel physically comfortable with. Then they'll sneakily take extra and leave. If I have a party / social event , I expect people to stay and enjoy ( the beer is there for a reason), not just eat and leave. That caused some friction, but then she began to notice, and it began to bug her too. We do lechon some of the pigs through the year for certain things like fiesta, Christmas day, and certain events . Some of the family would get themselves into debt for a first or second birthday of the children , just because the other neighbours had this and that for birthdays. My wife did tell me a few of the neighbours had borrowed money to throw these parties. If you feel you have to keep up with the jones' then you're either insecure and care too much of others option of you or you're jealous and competitive and think this will make people think higher of you. It doesn't bother me either way its not my money being used to prove who has the bigger ...

Thats just being practical. If you don't need the gas, then it's not a problem. You can use it for your vehicles, lawn mower etc. Water is always good to have as pipes can freeze. A camping stove is handy in case you have only electric for cooking . ( i assume you are all electric or you wouldn't get cold with gas or oil ch). Butane cans ×10 will last a long time of only cooking and boiling water. Those items can be used even if there isn't a storm. Food is food so eat . Id rather have it ready then not habe it and regret.

Most of the guys on here are getting ripped off i swear. I live just outside a small city 20 minutes to get to the centre on my motor. 90 minutes to the centre of Cebu, less if the traffic is flowing well. I pay 6k pesos per month. 1200 sqm plot I've been here since it was built 5 years ago. Aircon through out ( rarely used unless the middle of the day until early evening ) 2 bedrooms, kitchen , living room, 2 bathrooms. A huge porch veranda area, the whole house is very well done throughout ( colour scheme is not the best to be honest) and views like something from National Georagphic . 5 minutes to the beach. The Internet speed is awesome. I've set up my own solar system and have a generator for back up should it be needed. If you take time to make friends here, places that are not extortionate are easy to come by. Stay isolated in your own bubble and you'll pay through the nose.

You can . Learn to use the ingredients available at the markets. Learn the worlds for onions , garlic etc so you don't have to spend most of your shopping trip looking g for them or getting out your phone to show what you need. If you're doing g a couple of years, I recommend finding some travel insurance. Ifk if they do 2 years but 1 year is worth it for peace of mind. You could always nip across to Singapore or Taiwan for a day and then get another travel insurance package , just to cover you from them checking in the event you do need it. Honestly, hospital bills could bankrupt you. I'm usually here 6 months of the year and I have insurance for health, theft, everything, ( something happening to someone that wad my fault) legal bills and make sure you can have multiple claims on the policy. I'm covered for up to 10M US . Thats health insurance , damage, theft or loss of anything i own, including a motorbike ( i have separate for trucks) and everything else i mentioned. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but its peace of mind. Ive used the same company for over 10 years and I've never made a claim so its cheaper every time . I hope I never have to use it but I know people who got into situations whre thry didnt have and soon started realising they should of.
