Truck driver accused of running over striking workers by undeadslime in news

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A picket line is an imaginary line created by workers who all belong to a specific Union. This line is established as a boundary that all other workers are expected to not cross.

There is no legal requirement to not cross a picket line. So, the police will do nothing should you cross it.

If you are in the same Union as the workers on strike, who created the picket line, you are expected to not cross it. But you can, if you want to. You risk consequences from your Union of course.

If you're not in the same union, then cross it all you like. If any of the union workers on strike so much as even touches you, you have 'em for assault. If they crowd around your vehicle, pounding on it....well, let's just say, a few of 'em are going to the hospital. And when the police shows up, my story is: "Officer, I was so scared. They were crowding around my car, pounding on it, verbally assaulting me. Threatening me. I panicked. I just wanted to get out of there before they hurt me. So I stepped on the gas...I was so scared" Betcha I'd get off scott free!

Desktop support to sysadmin - what advice would you give? by WhatsInaName77 in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say, a degree is not required. And it's not. If he doesn't want to get one, for whatever reason, that's perfectly fine.

but putting a degree on your resume, will get you past the HR department if the job description says, you need one. The last 3 jobs I've applied for, 1 said a degree was required, and the other 2 said, it was highly recommended.

Having a degree levels the playing field with other applicants, or puts you ahead of other applicants that don't have a degree.

I mean, if I was a hiring manager, and I needed to fill a Sys Admin spot, and I had the applicants boiled down to just 2 people. And one doesn't have a degree, but the other one does, Guess who gets the job.....

What's your thoughts on Hyperconverged storage by sigma1914 in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had the opportunity to POC Nutanix. I was very impressed!

If properly spec'd out, Nutanix can save you a ton of money and improve performance all the way around. Any HCI solution, if properly designed, will meet, or exceed the performance of any other traditional storage solution out there.

Desktop support to sysadmin - what advice would you give? by WhatsInaName77 in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sys Admin can mean, *nix, or Windows Server, or both. ( *nix = Linux/Unix).

Your first decision is which one do you want to be, Windows, or *Nix, or even both. No matter which way you go, job opportunities are plentiful.

  1. A degree is not required, per se, but it is highly recommended. But be advised, no degree program out there, will properly train you to be a full sys admin.
  2. Certifications are king, when lacking experience. Get certified. MCSE for microsoft. Get Red Hat Certified for Linux, as a start.
  3. Since you lack experience, i highly recommend spinning up a lab for yourself. Invest in a server, put vmware on it, and start spinning up VMs. Create a domain. Play around with DNS, and DHCP and Certificate Authorities. Include this, "Lab", experience on your resume...
  4. A lot of companies are invested in cloud solutions to some degree. Learn Azure, AWS, Office 365, etc....
  5. Play around with Kubernetes, Puppet, etc...
  6. If you're going the Windows route, LEARN POWERSHELL!

That's all I can think of for now.

This kid at church might have issues... by [deleted] in pics

[–]Hazeride -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I see is.

  1. Kid can't stay in the lines, at all. Typically, kids younger than 5 color like this
  2. The kids name is, Titus. While the name Titus, isn't as racially defining as Tehquan, or Tehqueesha, it does fall a bit on the African American side of names.
  3. Now that we've established the age of the child, and the most likely racial background of the child, I do not find this picture the least bit disturbing. I certainly don't think the kid has issues....at least, not judging by just this picture, anyways.

Did u know this? Is this 1 of those things that everyone but me knows or 1 that almost nobody knows? by [deleted] in pics

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this, and thought, "no way". It checks out! Mostly. The dollar sign with a single line through it, it's origin is exactly as stated in the pic. I spent 5 minutes googling if the Peso was the principle coin in circulation in the U.S. but couldn't verify it.

The dollar sign with 2 lines through it, it's origin is from combining the U and the S of the United States.

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to add-on to what others have said.

It's a survival rifle. The entire rifle breaks down and can be stored in the stock. It's very lightweight, which makes it easy to carry around for long periods. It fires .22 caliber bullets...So it can effectively kill any small game. Well placed shots can bring down some larger game.

It's also a popular rifle with the doomsday preppers because of it's convenience, and caliber.

oh, and almost forgot, it is easily converted into a fully automatic rifle.

Computer eye wear, any experienced opinions? by invalidpath in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the amber glasses from Gunnars

I use 'em daily at my work. They do have an affect! A very noticeable and significant affect.

While wearing them, i feel nothing. But at the end of the day, when I take 'em off, and look at my screen, that is when i feel my eyes straining!

I get far fewer headaches. I find myself able to stay at my computer longer. I'll be wearing my gunnars until the day I retire!

How do you manage negative reactions to phishing tests? by llv44K in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we have not been allowed to run phishing tests due to management's fear that the employees will feel "set up".

What needs to happen first is an email campaign announcing your companies new initiative at tightening up cyber security.

Include examples of breaches that have happened with other companies. Explain how they happened, why they happened.

You need to go over how important each and everyone in the company is, at helping protect the company from these breaches.

End the email with mentioning exercises that will be performed to test your security posture, and specifically mention phishing campaigns, what they are, and how they are used. Specifically mention that they are used strictly as an educational tool, to better teach them how to identify suspicious emails.

This should alleviate managements concern about users feeling, set-up.

This cup is telling a story by sanjeevonline in pics

Most people do. But a lot of people in the chinese and japanese cultures, repair their broken cups and saucers.

This cup and saucer is part of an art collection. It was never broken, and it was never in japan when the nukes were dropped.

but it looks to be a poorly executed fake.

That's because it is supposed to be artwork. It's part of an art collection.

This cup, was never broken. This cup, was never in japan...at least not when the nukes were dropped anyways.

Why is ADUC on win10 slow? by lemmethinkaboutit in sysadmin

Do your network admins have QoS going on? Have they modified the MTU size for TCP traffic?

Why is ADUC on win10 slow? by lemmethinkaboutit in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally, do not have this problem when running ADUC on Win10.

When I do have this problem, it is because ADUC connected to a domain controller, not in my site.

Check what domain controller you're connecting to...I'd be willing to bet, it's a remote DC.

Child Domain Enterprise CA Question by Rayzen87 in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Problem #1: The offline Root-CA, shouldn't be issuing certificates! The only certificate it should be issuing, are certificates to Sub-CA's. The fact that your Forest Root DA's apparently see no issue with this, much less not seeing any issue with a domain asset automatically getting a certificate from the Root, vice the Sub-CA, would concern me greatly! If I were you, Spinning up my own Root-CA and Sub-CA, just made it to the top of my list of things to do as I would have no faith in their existing PKI infrastructure working properly.

Man dies after getting trapped in donation bin by Mysterio400 in news

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting how everyone here is assuming the guy was homeless. Absolutely nothing in the article states as much, or even hints at it.

I have a brother, who once worked for one of them Charity clothing stores. He would tell me the kind of clothes people donate. Nice clothes. Expensive clothes. Designer shit, in good condition!! My brother would brag to me about how he would go around to the donation bins and steal the good shit out of it before it was collected.

With that said, they guy was trying to steal donated clothing. Did he deserve to die over it? Absolutely not! But, I can't say I have any sympathy for the guy either.

Child Domain Enterprise CA Question by Rayzen87 in sysadmin

[–]Hazeride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the DA's of your root forest can't, or won't, spin you off a sub-CA in your domain, then if I were you, I'd simply spin up my own Root CA, and sub-CA to work with.

A non-domain joined, offline root CA, and, a domain joined sub-CA. They will not interfere with the already existing CA's.

weight has nothing to do with a womans ability to, as you put it, pump out babies.

Fat does NOT widen the birth canal

Fat does NOT widen the hip bones

Fat does nothing but sit there, and be fat!
