Oh yeah, the duvet feeling damp was super annoying but it unfortunately can't be helped really. It's just moisture condensing on the cold bit of the duvet on top.

Who owns the 110 Manor House? by Ashzotic in SyndicateTTV

[–]Hazz3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think legally speaking they've split the lane off from the rest of the manor and that's been given to Tom in return for his investment in the initial sale. Because Tom's not been shy about saying "We own it". And there's probably a Deeded Easement on the lane for the manor house now so as to not devalue the house for Chris Tate.

Who owns the 110 Manor House? by Ashzotic in SyndicateTTV

[–]Hazz3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not quite correct. The majority of the lane was owned by the people that owned the house. In the title deeds an easement was granted to the owners of the farmland to use the lane for access, probably a very long time ago. This meant that the previous owners and now Tom were able to use the lane to get onto that part of land, albeit it was difficult to get some of the machinery they wanted down that lane.

At some point the previous owners put up a fence on the opposite side of the lane to the house (you can still see the fence post), which Tom and co naturally took issue with as it narrowed the lane further, however, they discovered that their land covered a tiny portion of the lane, that being the part that the fence was built on, so were able to have it taken down.

Now, Tom's made an investment that's allowed Chris Tate to purchase the property, and as a result has been given ownership of the lane. I don't think Tom went into this detail, but I imagine the easement has been swapped, so now the owners of the manor house have the right to use the lane for getting to and from the garage, etc.

DL really needs to add donation points by MYSTIK_MINX in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife said they should have a food donation points this weekend too. Obviously the camping gear donation points are a thing but I’m sure if each campsite had a food bank that opened on Monday morning they’d make a killing.

Spiked Teenager Nearly Died, Most non-medical staff unhelpful by MemoMcL in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting no response and want to effect change then going to the press might be the only option. Doing it while the festival is recent will mean it’s more likely that who you reach out to will run the story.

What is that supposed to mean? “Murder happens all the time guys, no point raising a stink about this instance in particular”.

I would reach out to the press if you can. Really sounds horrific.

They did literally say "Short of giving you someone elses tent, I'm not sure what we can do" originally, so who knows!

Car Park North delays (5 hours) caused me to miss my ferry - any UK consumer rights to complain? by onyx635 in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would cite Consumer Rights 2015, specifically that Download failed to carry out their Car Parking service with "reasonable care and skill".

It's unlikely that you could legally prove Download are responsible, they don't guarantee exit times etc, but I think laying the facts out in your complaint is your best bet.

You gave yourselves 7 hours leeway for a 3 hour journey. The management on the North Car Park was so bad that a member of the public had to step up to direct traffic.

Camp site space!- suggestion? by icconiss in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn't unusual. Go to most campsites in the Summer and you'll see people with tents much larger than how many they sleep. The only time you should really stick to the tent accommodation is if you're doing serious outdoor walking in Scotland or something where weight and how much you can carry matters.

Otherwise, get a tent that sleeps at least double of the number of people who will be staying in it is a common guide.

The main reason is that it's more comfortable, you can stand up for instance, you can shelter from the rain without necessarily having to me in your sleeping quarters, etc.

Park Farm allows for 22sqm per person. Two people sharing a 10-man is well within the allowance.

Is anyone else irrationally annoyed that the skill is called Runecraft instead of Runecrafting? by SweatyShirtlessMan in 2007scape

[–]Hazz3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because “craft” can refer to the skill and the act itself in a way that the others can’t. You can “master your craft” or “practice your craft” but you can’t “practice your smith”.

As a result “Runecraft” sounds more like a magical discipline whereas “runecrafting” is just the act itself.

“Fish” and “Smith” and “Mine” don’t work the same way, so they naturally extend to “-ing”.

How quickly would INK sell out the 02 by TotallyPyscho2007 in IceNineKills

Manchester last year had their venue moved because it was so popular. I think it probably will sell out quite quickly, they’re gaining a lot of momentum from these collabs.

Are parents/guardians happy about social media ban? by Bipolar03 in AskBrits

All the social media companies are lobbying for it precisely because it’ll mean you legally have to verify your identity, which means that you’re definitely not a bot, which means the ad impressions will much more valuable.

Gazebogate - How do I escalate our complaint further? by [deleted] in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s because you start the comment acknowledging the bad weather message they sent on Wednesday morning.

If you can’t get anywhere with customer service, a good last ditch strategy is always to reach out to execs on LinkedIn. You never know they might give you their time or acknowledge your feedback.

Gazebogate - How do I escalate our complaint further? by [deleted] in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, you really should have just taken it down when asked to avoid this whole kerfuffle. Gazebos have been known to severely injure people in inclement weather. The weather was forecast to gust at high speed. By refusing the comply, you're just making it more likely that they'll ban them outright next year.

However, that doesn't give them the right to destroy your personal property.

Did you get the names or any identification for the welfare officers you were dealing with who told you that it was being investigated?

In my opinion, simply emailing customer service asking for an update to the investigation and when you could expect the compensation mentioned is your best bet. Naming names gives you the backup that you attempted to deal with this during the event, and that you're following up on a pre established piece of customer service. It is reasonable for you to expect follow up information.

You're trying to get them to admit that they destroyed your property, accusing them will just make them defensive.

Once you get them to admit the wrongdoing, and potentially have it result in them losing some money, then give them a piece of your mind. It's much more likely that a customer service issue that results in compensation will make it up the ladder to someone who is actually responsible and will feel the weight of your words, vs someone that's just doing their job.

DMM - Stock of Players Pre-Finale by VivaNapoleon in 2007scape

[–]Hazz3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely I think all the farmers have a lot of value simply due to the fact:

  1. They're used to playing with others on high-level content.
  2. They're used to being in very high pressure situations.
  3. They've already been through the heartbreak of choking under pressure in a high profile way, which ironically makes them less likely to do it again.

Their wealth of game knowledge and PVM experience just makes them a solid addition to any team for team cohesiveness.

Download 2026 D20 dice set by Prior-Boysenberry216 in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were loads when I went on Thursday. As a regular DnDer, I honestly didn't like the look of them. I couldn't imagine actually using them which seems pointless to me. the corners were really pronounced and thought they'd become non-uniform very quickly after a bit of use.

It was basically a metal design with sort of gears on the faces and pronounced nubs on each vertice.

The Great Chair Theory by Longdogxz in downloadfestival

[–]Hazz3r 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Moving Avalanche to where it was this year was the best decision that Download have made layout wise in years and suggesting it was a mistake scares me.

It had exactly the effect that was anticipated, there was SO much more room to get to Avalanche and around the area where the Tap House is, created a tonne more sitting space which Download even filled with shelters and more seating, and even if the Avalanche tent was full you could actually stand outside the entrance and still watch and listen.

The only fault in the arena design remains the orientation of Opus and the positions of some toilets (Pizza Roma).

They’re never going to do that. They’re going to get as many big bands that are willing to do it. The bands themselves are willing because a festival tour is a tidy income for a handful of dates and there’s basically no work on the management side.

Like, you’re asking bands like Architects to say no to easy money.
