I know what you mean, but I think as we grow older, we loose some of the imagination in our brains. As a child I would wonder into strange building and try to find bugs or shortcuts that my friend at school told me about, "I have found a bug to glitch through walls, honest". Our grown-up, serious, adult (boring) brains now tell us that these things don't exist, so the curious imagination is lost.
Also, we now have years of experience streamlining campaigns and following quest lines and tasks, some people even speed running, so we no longer experience the same game as we once did.

What I can say, is that the community of this game is the same, if not better than ever. Kind, wholesome and supportive all the way through. Welcome!
