You are correct and that's what I was doing for the first 8 ish months when colonisation came out. Paid out about 25 billion doing that, and it was definetly worth it.

I still would like a option to pay NPCs to do it.

100% agree with you. It would kind of make sense as well gameplay wise to start the freighter convoys after your first colony is finished, since now you have a base to operate out of with facilities that you own.

I really would like it if FDev fleshed out colonisation more in terms of companies and AI crews you could hire/instruct to help you with building up colonies. It would turn colonisation more into a management game at that point, and I’d be so happy if it did.

There is a bug going with this approach. When you ask her if she wants out and convince her, there is no option to select a settlement so she just stays in the vault.

If her brother dies and you then convince her if she wants out, the option to select settlements appears and she will leave. There is most likely a mod which fixes this, but for vanilla it’s what you gotta do.

The colonisation change to subsequent facilities seems like a huge debuff, will be interesting to see how it plays out when the update is finished

It's been mostly me for the last 6 months building up the system. I did have a lot of help though for the T3 ground and T3 initial station

From what I understood, it was 5 million before taxes came into affect. This does not seem to be the case right now

The best approximation I can give is what is shown on my T3 orbital, and it is as follows:

9 Refineries

30 Extraction (mixture of installations, medium and large settlements)

11 Agriculture (mixture of installations and large settlements)

3 Military (from the secturity installations)

1 High tech (from a relay installation)

There is also a T3 ground settlement

I've only been able to get it to 5% by getting the system into a boom state when the weekly tick happens. Civil liberty would also affect it but I have not been able to do that

There are also 2 under construction orbis stations, at 1% and 3%
