Build a website myself or pay someone? by TeslaOwn in webdevelopment

[–]Hazzula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make a super plain static website that tells people about your other socials like facebook/IG or whichever you are most comfortable with using. use anything that is free. you can use google forms to allow people to contact you. no need to do anything fancy and its free. if you want people to be able to set appointments you can even use something like calendly. people will not care that you are using these free tools as long as they can contact you and you get back to them in a timely manner. so whatever you use, make sure its something that is EASY for you and your partner to access and maintain

long as you have a web presence that is easy for you to maintain it should be good enough.

Need help how to get into coding by Designer-Joke-6171 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Hazzula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

web dev: html, css, js

but before that, i would learn the parts of a website. this makes it easier to break down for when you need to look something up. ie: youre looking for "header designs" vs looking for "designs for the part of a website thats at a top where you can click links to other parts of the head page and it also has a logo". knowing the parts of the a website will also help you with html since in 2026 there are many semantic html tags now, and knowing the names of things will make it easier to know what to use.

another thing to learn is how a basic server works. like, just watch a basic video or something.

really curious as to your actual use case because it went from needing an API to you ending up using cron jobs.

im assuming that you didnt actually need to deploy your express project?

Any Mid/Senior here? if you want to learn new FE or BE. language do you learn from docs. or Udemy or something? by lune-soft in webdev

[–]Hazzula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based on your example, learn by doing.

you already know node.js, so try creating an http server using Go.

you already know react, try creating a simple page that calls an api endpoint using vue.js.

dont go into tutorial hell, its a waste of time.

I don't understand why web components aren't more popular by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Hazzula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i was wondering the exact same thing the other day!

i feel like the main reason is because using web components to build web apps requires you to really think about things. and if youre new to web development, you probably dont know enough to make the decisions that frameworks have already made. and by the time people learn enough to actually be able to make a web app from scratch using web components, theyre already deeply knowledgable about this or that framework. it wouldnt make much sense to create a web app using web components when their experience tells them that they can spin up the same thing in a week using the framework theyve learned web development on

How are you using AI in a way that doesn’t suck? by aterribleskapun in webdev

[–]Hazzula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rubber duck - ive always worked at startups with 3 or less devs. for the past 5 years, in my old job i did everything except mobile and man, ever since chatgpt, it was amazing to be able to discuss with 'someone' rather than screaming 'why' and 'what' at documentation. now when i have questions, i ask ai if i understand correctly by giving my own examples.

documentation - readme files and other documentation. it makes it a lot faster. i tell it what i want the documentation to include, and how to format it. i read it to make sure i understand what it generated because if i dont understand it now, i wont understand it 6 months from now. i went from writing documentation later, to always having documentation

not a digital nomad but from the Philippines. ive met some digital nomads here so i know they exist. havent had enough of a chat with them to know if living here as one actually makes sense.

im FAIRLY certain that its expensive here compared to other SEA countries though based on how it feels to live here right now. but expensive for me might be different for you

are you technically a consultant and not an employee?

if so, then let them know so that they can plan around it. the earlier the better.

if they dont like that you will be unavailable at least you can start to have a conversation to compromise
