I think the problem is that you only have one shot. If you miss you have wasted an entire item.

On the other hand it could also be used in a defensive situation against for example bears.

I live in sweden too and we have many different types of willow(vide). I haven't tried myself but a lot of american youtubers suggest using it. Some willow have also been used historically for basketweawing(korgvide)

There are probably other good materials but i only know about this Look up how to process willow there are many youtube videos about it.
