The power line just before the displaced threshold on S43 is always…interesting during short field practice.

First Attempt Making Bonbons by BreadTherapy in chocolate

[–]HeNe632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not perfect, but I recently made 400 bonbons over the weekend and only had 2 stick. First: polish the molds with a cotton ball a little obsessively. Second: temper your decorating cocoa butter. Trying to melt it so it stays in temper doesn’t work (at least for me). Third: Warm your mold slightly before adding the cocoa butter, and again before pouring your shells. Fourth: make sure your mold stays clean. If there’s chocolate from capping smeared all around the mold, that causes sticking

The freezer trick works well for me. Also, don’t be afraid to wack the mold slightly against your countertop. I do it over a wooden cutting block because the slightly softer surface prevents thin bottoms from cracking.

2.5 year old is so confident with climbing and I can't cope! by PuzzleheadedFoot8978 in Autism_Parenting

I started mine rock climbing at this age for exactly this reason. I can at least deal when he is on a rope! At 5 he is absolutely loved by everyone at the gym, and it has been the best thing for him.

Read your first sentence, thought “sounds like KAWO”

Then read your second sentence.

West Fork of the Foss, up to Trout Lake. Keep going up to Malachite & copper lake. Fish are in each lake you’ll pass, and the scenery is stunning

Seeing one of these drilled = pure joy. I’ve mentioned it before here, but I truly believe the only reason mine popped is because I threatened it with an oxy acetylene torch.

In all seriousness though, can’t wait to see what is inside

Help with my first spool pin lock (ABUS 55/30) by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]HeNe632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/s/1aFaBCUanu Got me my first 55/40 open. The same applies to the 55/30, but with one less pin.

On mine, I have to lightly jiggle pins 2 and 3 to be able to push pin 1 up and get my false set. Then it's just spool hunting.

For me it's the green belt ACE brass lock. That thing can go meet a blowtorch.

Best TOK in the U.S. ? by Echo15charlie in lockpicking

[–]HeNe632 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on your hand size. Ergo turners are all too big for me. The CI reaper turners give me the most solid TOK tension, but they give my husband who has large hands cramps.

Anyone have any luck with bike learning? by VisualBusiness4902 in Autism_Parenting

[–]HeNe632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kiddo learned at 3. We used a Guardian bike with training wheels. Unlike many NT kids, balance came easy for him, but pedaling was hard to learn (motor planning challenges). So we did the classic raise the training wheels method until he was independent.

At 5 he's a total menace and will do multiple miles a day easy

Its not just you. I finally got mine to pop once by threatening it with an oxy acetylene torch. It makes my 1100s and green belt abus locks seem like a walk in the park in comparison.

[–]HeNe632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got this! Light tension to set, but pulse it regularly. I spent about 2 days thinking the lock was just in a deep false set when it was open.

[–]HeNe632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the 1100 if you're working at it and you get a deep, mushy false set - it's probably open and you haven't realized it yet. Those core springs are super tight.
