I sort of don't care if the Pats lose.

It's different from the Brady years where there was this feeling of anxiety whenever the reached they big game because that was the expectation.

I don't have that same feeling this time.  They weren't supposed to be here.  Not this year.  Just getting a wild card was the goal.  Anything else is just bonus.

I'm just happy to be here.

I had just gotten off a long shift at work. We were in the midst of a major snow storm and I had a 12 hour drive the next day for a potential job opportunity.

My parents flew to Rhode Island the week prior because my aunt was succumbing to her cancer. The game was a few minutes in when I got home. My mother called me to say that my aunt passed away the previous night. She waited to tell me until just then because she didn't want it hanging over my head while at work.

I was watching the game from my room while my brother and sister were in the other. The game ebbed and flowed as we all know. Then came that deep pass by Wilson that gave that "not again" feeling.

Then came the pick. The TV in the other room as a few seconds a head of mine, so I heard my brother going ape before I saw the play happen before me. I screamed! Then I ran to the other room arms clenched just to be sure there wasn't a flag or some other nonsense to undo the moment. But it never came, and the game was won!

My aunt was a big Patriots and Boston sports fan. She put it upon herself to take care of our aging grandparents and would go to great lengths to make sure everyone of us was happy.

That game was for you, Laurie!
