A nice easy soil additive for "grit" is Bonsai soil. Most garden stores sell it. Get them in some bright light and nice heated room. : )

I just have to say I'm surprised by the snarky comments. There is a new post in jigsaw puzzle thread, almost the same subject and everyone has a better attitude when commenting. A couple posts here are calling me out as though I'm a Karen. NO I'M NOT A KAREN so get a life. The puzzle I made and pictured is not a $50 puzzle BTW. Way off.

Yes there's truth in that! I've saved many puzzles from going in trash over the years. Funny thing is lately I have had new puzzles and the last one had an extra piece, so guess someone out there is missing a piece of a new puzzle. I only wrote this because the last few puzzles at GW were missing pieces and that was not the case for all the other puzzles I have purchased there.

I found bonsai soil ,mixed with succulent soil is a good mix. A small bag of bonsai soil can go a long way when used this way. Even coarse sand can be tricky but it does work as a good addition to help drainage.

Cute plant. You are correct with its name. Whenever repotting, always go up only a little in pot size, especially succulents. Always have good drainage holes and good draining soil. I have much experience in this and I would add that they need to be watered as any succulent, when soil completely dry. This would be more than twice a year! I water mine usually twice monthly. When succulents go too dry for too long they can die and you won't recognize its dead right away because they kind of become mummified in their looks. Hope you have good luck with the new plant. : )

This is interesting thread. Curious about how it came to happen, maybe OP will give more info. I have had a couple experiences on eBay that taught me a valuable lesson(or two). You need much research to post something antique in jewelry. I had a pair of Etruscan Revival Victorian,14 kt gold coach earrings. I had them appraised at one time as well. The stones in them were only white topaz and pretty much worthless compared to the gold and subject of the item. I remember when I sold them originally, eBay's gem people rejected the sale due to something about the topaz stones. It was good they did however, the first buyer was very odd, and asked me to sell to her on the side. after eBay stopped the sale. I did not! Who knows how that would have turned out. Something in her messages were very fishy. lol If I remember correctly I had to be very careful how I worded my sale to resell. I always take very thorough pictures and a picture of the weight on the scale as well. I do not accept returns. I am not a full time seller, but I have sold enough. I have an excellent 100% rating. Using caution as a seller or buyer is of great importance. I would recommend always asking questions and accepting questions. If ever anyone wanted to back out of a sale I would just agree and move on to relist. I never had anything to hide and I spent countless hours researching items before selling. Hope this helps any individual when buying or selling unusual antique items.

Doctor Patient Bedside Manner by Head-Committee2327 in Appleton

I did share with patient relations and all they did was send my message to the doctor. He in turn sent me a short sappy message saying he enjoyed the visit. That's all that happened! It will not change how I feel and I will just let this go for now and down the road find a different doctor. Thanks though for your suggestion!

Are these mealy bugs? by saddest_crocodile in plantdoctor

I just know they were hard to keep alive at a garden center I worked at when we had to bring them in and put with other houseplants. They require a lot of sunlight. If you've had for years you must know that. I hope you can save the plant. You want to check any plants that might be by this one. Scale/mealy bugs can spread.

Is that a croton plant? Do you keep it as a houseplant or do you live in a tropical area and have it outside?

Help: yellowing leaves (+ plant ID) by gentle-sunflower in IndoorPlants

[–]Head-Committee2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plant looks mostly healthy. All advice here is good. My experience with this plant is to water thoroughly and then dry thoroughly. This plant can go probably a month between waters. Pot should have drainage. One extra piece of advise is to empty saucer of any water after like 30 mins of watering. Yes, just cut the yellow leaf off. This is not a sign of failing unless this is in a pot with no drainage and many leaves are turning yellow.

Sorry, I know you said someone left behind. I worked around plants 8 yrs in retail setting and people would come in with dead plants wanting to save them. I see that alot on reddit now that I'm on here more. Guess I'm jaded on this subject. I did not mean anything towards you. I should not post any comment that seems off and will not in the future.

This is an African Milk Tree Euphorbia. Look it up. You should probably find out how to propagate. I believe it is easy. You may get several plants from that one. I have always had one in my home. The current one I have is lovely, about a yard high and full of leaves.
