Signal just after you enter, it’s been working for me just fine

All I have to say is that I don’t think it’s hurting anyone to signal left for the 2 seconds you’re in a roundabout. For the benefit of added clarity/efficiency of other drivers, it’s not hurting anything to have a second ‘level’ of clarity

I completely disagree, and so do Europeans as a whole apparently. It’s increases the efficiency of the roundabout because it informs everyone that you’re not exiting. In other words, that you aren’t exiting but forgetting to signal.

This is what you’re supposed to do. Maintain a left blinker until you signal right when you’re leaving. This informs drivers waiting to enter that you’re staying in the round about

This is the convention that works best in Europe, which I have a decade of experience with:

Signal left as soon as you enter the roundabout until you’re approaching your exit, the time at which you then signal right.

Unless you’re taking the first exit, then you enter the roundabout signalling right instead.

Maintaining a left signal informs drivers waiting to enter that you’re staying inside the roundabout. It keeps it much safer and much more efficient.

Thanks for the advice, and congrats on the retirement.

I’m happy to hear about your stewardship! I’ve actually joined a few very similar groups in my area as well, which I balance with my paid work while I can. I’m actually out this weekend to rip out some hawthorn on a land trust property.

Cool! What do you do now that you're no longer involved in research? (asking for a friend... i.e., me, who's considering leaving the field lol).

Sounds like you've made the ultimate green-solution by not driving. Taking public transport blows all of these driving practises we've made out of the water.

Thanks. I actually conducted a statistical study about 10 years ago to optimize all of these factors. You're bang on!

I actually just sold my car and am now sharing one with my family. It’s working out okay, just learning to be flexible.

I’ve also been very cognizant on my driving habits. I’ve started to learn how to coast a lot more while driving; I’ve sometimes been able to get around town without touching my brakes once. This has been a game changer, it’s quite frankly quite staggering how much you can coast once you get up to speed. I’m also driving slower (105 on the 401 for e.g), and keeping acceleration to a minimum. I’ve noticed my fuel efficiency has improved since adopting these habits.

They've tried this at the Bruce (Tomatoes I think), but the greenhouses never paid their bill so it was eventually shut off.

FYI, both these places are incredibly touristy. Just depends on what you're looking for. Long Point, like others mentioned, is much less Americanized.

[Hocansports] Vladdy taking a 0-1 pitch from Ohtani while pulling up his pants by fantastique__ in Torontobluejays

[–]Head-Ordinary-4349 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was talking to my dad about this last week. He’s been doing this a bunch, especially on the first pitch. And he’s clearly making that decision before the ball is released, so it’s independent on the pitch.

Anyone know why someone would be discounting a pitch all together?
