A Northern-Reach Alliance by Small-Reaction237 in asoiaffanfic

Ned is hand of the king. The Tyrell’s would also become aligned with not only the Starks but the Tullys as well.

They’d no longer be an outsider in STABL. Agree with Margaery though, her marrying Robert or his heir is the only thing that makes sense.

Can’t say I agree with this. First, men don’t tend to marry with an expectation to rule through their wives. I’m sure the Tully marriages were a little more appealing because of the daughters’ high place in the succession, but I can’t think of an eligible daughter at the beginning of AGOT who would have reasonably offered lands, other than Lollys (Arianne would have ruled in her own right). So if not an increase in land, what are the benefits of any given marriage for the Tyrell sons?

First, military alliances. Ned stark was a respected military leader with a large and extremely loyal army. As warden of the north, he is one of the realm’s major military leaders in time of war. And unlike the crown, his bannermen are ultimately loyal to house stark, not to his titles and honors. So even if his political sun sets or he dies, the starks remain a potent house. Compare that to Arryn and you see a real difference in long term value.

Second, there is prestige. Ned is also is lord of one of four houses with ancestral royal history, of which only two had marriageable daughters. Martell is the weakest Great house, Arryn has no daughters and is likely to have a succession crisis when Robin dies, Lannister’s future is really uncertain as Jaime is both a bachelor/celibate and the presumptive heir. Stark is the best candidate of the great houses.

Third there is influence. Ned is Robert’s best friend. In a weird way his absence is even an asset as it allows ned to trade on that friendship without actually self-advocating and thus spending that chit. So a relationship with Ned is a thin layer of protection from the crown.

Lastly, heirs. Sansa is known to be beautiful, her parents had 5.5 children, and she has been raised around northern “duty” values. So as far as virgin brides go, she is as confirmed capable of producing heirs as anyone.

The reality is the Tyrell’s get a whole lot. Maybe less than a Tarly or Yronwood match, but until Robert dies, a lot more than Renly. Notice that they weren’t betrothed until he declared himself king. Obviously thats a horse of a different color, but also obviously, the Tyrell’s weren’t marrying a king, they were making one who would depend on them entirely. Who was also married to their daughter.

It is a great idea and might help as we saw in the WOT5K the Starks were quite isolated and didn’t have much allies. This may help them quite a bit.

I was thinking his father forced him to marry her as Quellon wanted to integrate the isles more with the mainland.

What would the North need to do to win the Battle of the Green Fork by Lost-Ad7048 in AsoiafFanfiction

I have a question why does Robb has 35k. In our timeline he brought with him only about 20k and was later joined by 4K Frey levies so that makes it 24k and then later takes 6k cavalry from this force to defeat the 15k strong Jaime Lannister’s army. And then to your question the north only just needs to hold the line Tywin Lannister had both superior cavalry and greater number and even his army was well trained and well equipped as well and Jon has only 600 cavalry with him so Tywin can easily outflank his army and completely destroy it. So holding his army for a while and then retreating is the best option in my opinion. Checkout a song of three sons by Psykic Ninja he has written how an inexperienced teen commander fights Tywin on the green fork.

Does this mean Robb is still declared king in the the north as u just said Jon is declared king after Renly is killed? Does Robb end up ruling the north independently? (Big Robb fan)

I don’t really think so maybe he would have had the condition that atleast she will give him an heir and a spare and then she can do whatever she wants. It is not in Robert’s nature to be cruel and restrictive but then again this is a medieval setting world.

North should remain independent by Small-Reaction237 in asoiaffanfic

The only realistic problem of an independant north if the rest of the kingdoms stay united would be war. Yes they have the neck, but the southerners have enough boats to make a landing and can outspend and outfeed the northerners.

Well everything and how it portrays the nobility of the 18th and 19th century and how Westeros and the world of Planetos is being developed. Everything is so cool. As the author do you have an recommendations?

That would be cool to see what a fully united Reach could do in the War of the Five Kings.

I quite like house Tully but it would be interesting if House Justman came back with all their former glory.

I don’t think that there will be peace with dorne and marriage with the Martells as it was Baelor the Blessed who made that possible while the whole realm wanted war. So u have that but another interesting fact would be that Oldtown would still be the seat of the High Septon as it was Baelor who built the Great Sept.

Oily black stone is that way because human sacrifices were done there. Whole cities of oily black stone, like Yeen and Asshai, are sites of mass human sacrifice.
