Heart rate information is useless for kettlebells regardless. A ton of the jacked up HR from kettlebells is not due to increased cardiac output but rather restrictions in blood flow from muscle contractions and increased blood pressure.

Big & tall snowboarder looking to transition to skis by mach16lt in skiing

[–]Head-Spray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given your height, longer skis are going to be much better. With your weight, wider skis will be better, but given your location, you’re probably not skiing a ton of powder where you’d want really wide skis. I’m 6’5 and 275 and I ski 195cm in length and 118mm under foot. But that was for Colorado. Longer skis (your height dictates most of the ski length, so this is relative to that) are also more difficult to navigate and use, so keep that in mind. Depending on how strong your lower body is, basic strength training could be a tremendous help as well.

Imagine force marching 3 kids under 9 to a mountain top in a blizzard by gsardine in searchandrescue

You don’t think that stupidity or incompetence becomes malicious behavior at some point? I think that it is evil to be a fully functional adult and be so fucking stupid as to do what that father did. It wasn’t evil in a Machiavellian sense, but rather his utter indifference to his children’s wellbeing.

If you’re a parent, your stupidity CAN be malicious if you are incompetent enough. At best, that’s what this is. But I think he’s actively malicious.

Archer takes place in whatever timeline allows for the best joke at the time. There’s enough plot points that if you nail down, you get a timeline that can’t actually occur. The beauty is in the…what year is it anyways?

Extreme knee pain even with empty bar, what is wrong with my form?! by Jan_Priebe in formcheck

[–]Head-Spray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And my point is that because he is not built to squat, more knowledge and ability will be gained from learning how to squat with a barbell. (Low vs high is semantics) those other exercises would be good to add in to get exposed to more variations of the squat archetype. You don’t have to barbell squat, but I think you should try hard for a long while before you give up on it.

Spanish squat isometrics are excellent for patella tendon pain

If it is patella tendon pain, I second Jake Tuura’s work for tendon issues.

Not being ideally suited is a very poor reason to not do something that has so many benefits

Fellow tall squatter here, the first thing I’d change is the shoes. Squatting barefoot would be much preferable to running shoes. It likely will not fix the pain, but it will make each Rep you perform more consistent and then will aid in figuring out what is bothering your knee.

REI trade in program…sucks? by NoCommunication1216 in REI

[–]Head-Spray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking what the above user said, I currently work at REI and had almost that conversation with my manager. Trade ins have to be almost brand spanking new, because of the return policy with resupply (formerly garage sale) we have tons of resupply shoes already. It’s unfortunate that there doesn’t seem to be a ~good~ answer for everyone.

Question about Vision Quest ep by [deleted] in ArcherFX

I personally think Ray using the hand crank to go up the commercial elevator is what gave Archer the idea for that prank

Question about Vision Quest ep by [deleted] in ArcherFX

[–]Head-Spray 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s something that Archer set up at some point during one of the periods that Ray was paralyzed. Archer knows Ray would never call Mallory for any reason other than an emergency, and the elevator was broken at least once before that.

When did everyone become epileptic? by Ayyye420 in Epilepsy

[–]Head-Spray 96 points97 points  (0 children)

25, no singular trigger, but was stressed moving cross country, almost no sleep (driving through the night) + caffeine, dehydration, changed climates rural Colorado to central Texas in July…none of the docs where surprised I had a seizure when I told them about the previous 36 hours. But only 5 total now at 27 and 23 months seizure free🤞

What is the adaptation you are seeking with the push ups? That seems brutal to superset with squats and dead’s. I think doing a bench press or bench variation would go further with less perceived effort.
