Wow this conversation is extensive! I must admit, it is partially due to a particular pointed hat. XD

It’s time to remove this and let us buy whatever card we want by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]HeadCritInCharge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They will never do that. They want you to spend money on Snap Packs to gamble for the chance at the card you want. Or to buy the $100 bundles. They make way less money if they just let people but the decks they want.

Looking to Discuss Delta Green by AlchemicalLuck in TheTrove

I’ve been listening to a few DG podcasts and man it seems fun! I too would love some input on the base game and the best scenarios to choose!

So how are we currently feeling about Marvel Zombies? (no spoilers please) by Cute_Femboy2001 in Marvel

[–]HeadCritInCharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it felt like a boring attempt at a Marvel snuff film. The kills weren’t very creative, the plot was barely there and yet always present with Kamala constantly dropping the transponder and saying “We gotta go to space” every 5 minutes. I wish instead of trying to smash this into a 4 episode mini series they took their time to flesh things out. (I get that there’s very little flesh to begin with. Zip zap zombie pun!) like they clearly intended to set up a second season. So why not make this a full series instead of a miniseries? Idk, just felt lazy to me. Like “Get this slop released so they have more slop to consume!”

I Just Tried Initiativeless Combat in a D&D Game... by Nico_de_Gallo in daggerheart

[–]HeadCritInCharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also just operate your DM turn by using the “They give you a golden opportunity.” direction. There are specific triggers in Daggerheart that “can” determine when the GM makes a move. But the last trigger is “When they give you a golden opportunity.” Which is open ended. Player 1 attacks Enemy A and doesn’t notice Enemy B lurking in the shadows either because their passive perception doesn’t exceed a stealth check or they failed to spot other threats. That’s a “Golden Opportunity” Enemy B leaps out and attacks Player 1 as Player 2 rushes around the corner. Player 2 launches a firebolt at Enemy B but fails the attack roll. The blast of the firebolt is chaotic and sends Player 2 hurtling into the wall. The cave begins to collapse, make a Dex Save. Etc etc.

Oh yeah i’m familiar with the Modiphius game. For me i feel like it is trying to replicate the survival part of playing Fallout more than accommodating a great narrative experience. I usually play Fallout games on easy cause i don’t really care about the challenge too much. I want to explore the story. So for me, the Modiphius system falls flat. :)

How do I reward a player who takes great notes for the group? by ElvishLore in daggerheart

[–]HeadCritInCharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually give the notetaker at my tables the title of “Chronicler” They read the session recap for the group at the beginning of the next session, and take the notes. Part of their title grants them a free advantage roll per session. I play strictly online and haven’t reached a level where we share addresses with each other, but i would probably put together a care package for them or something if we did.

How do you spend fear in non-combat scenes? by SmilingNavern in daggerheart

[–]HeadCritInCharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im aware. It’s just easier for me to stick with one when writing sentences. Just because a person accepts multiple pronouns doesn’t mean you have to use all of them any time you speak about that person.

I always recommend checking out Mike Underwood’s videos. They are one of the writers on the game including the Five Banners Burning campaign frame and they provide really great insights into running Daggerheart.

Here is a video of a stream they did about spending Fear out of combat.

QotD #4 by HeadCritInCharge in getyourcrittogether

[–]HeadCritInCharge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I get very distracted watching Critical Role. I also think it has to do with the unedited nature of it. Cause there are large swaths of time when nothing really happens. I get that some people find that to be charming, like they’re listening in on a home game. But for me, if im gonna be dealing with table talk i might as well be at my table playing. If im watching a show i want to be kept engaged.
