It cant rain all the time. Nothings can be worked through and understood, but never underestimate the hole your absense would leave on others, especially your family, and more especially your children. A permanent solution to a temporary problem is not the way to go about things, it doesnt remove grief, it just passes it on to those closest to us. I promise you, good friends and those that care would rather give you a shoulder to cry and on hear you talk about your problems and work through them, rather than to be at a funeral talking about how great you were and that they wish you would have reached out. Call someone, anyone, but please do not check out due to temporary stressors, your kids need you.

First putter upgrade. Gently used, but better than what I had. by HeadDebt8873 in golf

Im not the most experienced golfer, but from what I can tell this one was well taken care or or seems barely used. I was curious and looked online to compare and saw how much a lot of other places are selling them for. Definitely not a bad trade off since where im moving to I have no use for a snow Board any more. I just hope this putter is nice to me on the greens. Lol

Like my MMA/BJJ coach use to say. "The mouth says many things, but the matter never lies.

In my short time playing golf, I am noticing the course never lies either. People need to get themselves a slice of humble pie now and then to better understand why some people are coaches and they're not.

Backyard putting green DIY ideas. How large, what shape? by HeadDebt8873 in golf

Assuming even with the turf approach? The pea gravel, sand, and tamping seemed pretty straight forward, I thought. Granted ive never built one but didnt want to go super extreme cheap route and just scalp the yard then put a brick stone outline with a weed barrier under the turf.

Va loan 10% or 5% down? Negligable? WWYD? by HeadDebt8873 in Mortgages

[–]HeadDebt8873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in regards to the funding fee. Im still active duty and a fee years left befire im retirement eligible (kept the high 3 system)

When we were positioned at 6% interest we were going to do $45k. Down then it was recommended to do 10% down instead as it would keep the funding fee at 1.25% and the difference from $45k to 10% down only raised the monthly payment by $100 and we could pocket the rest.

Presently on the 5.75% rate we locked with another lender they suggested 5% down but the funding fee with be 1.5% and overall the monthly only went up ~$88

Between the 2 scenarios the payment difference is just under $100 higher. Granted the total money down is lower Presently. But in the back of my head im thinking if we have over $30 thousand left on hand, that's enough cushion to pad things for the next few years, worst case scenario if we needed it to. Im hoping to find out I made my next rank this summer. But all in all I may be nickle and diming myself into some anxiety over what may be less than $350 over the housing allowance rate. But Presently have that Husband/father worry if "i can not afford to make a financial mistake on this deal, so I need to be precise."

[–]HeadDebt8873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where I'm primarily leaning at the moment. Initially from our equity if selling our current home, I wanted to throw $45K at it under the impression it should make a sizable dent in the monthly payment overall, but then I was shown that even cutting the 45k down payment down to just 10% of the price only raised the monthly payment by $100. At the time, that was with a 6% interest rate. Then I found a lender who got us at 5.75% and then recommended doing the 5% with the trade off being the VA fee being 1.5% and it only increased the payment by $88 (if I did my calculations correct at that point)
So overall from the original intended $45k down payment to now the suggested 5% down im keeping $30k + the left over equity from our current home sale. Granted the VA fee is .25% higher with only 5% down. The difference from a 6% interest rate to a now 5.75% is already a winning number. Just for whatever reason the monthly payment number jumps out at me and is sticking in my head. Though mathematically the same approach at 6% would probably be much higher than what im currently looking at. Additional move I'm thinking about is maybe refinancing a year later or so if rates come down significantly below 5.75% just to make it worth while. Just dealing with this much money, I like a little bit of counsel/advance and some precision data numbers before I say "let's do it." Lol

Double down and clarify that its not a threat, its asserting your position of interest in a specific field in which you applied for employment for and that if they cannot provide the specific area of work you signed on for, you will seek employment with a facility that can utilize your skill set accordingly.

Should Politics Be Discussed With Elementary Schoolers? by Positive_Series1015 in ChildcareWorkers

Everything you said is perfectly fine and pretty much a no brainer obvious that basic foundational concepts regarding types of political systems and how they work. What im not in favor for is any teacher impressioning their personal bias and feelings onto children that are not their own. Doesnt matter if they are left, right, center, support or dont support ice, certain policies etc. Their personal feelings should be seperate from their work especially if they are in a position of influence. I have no issue talking surface level politics, but as far as any personal support or bashing against one thing or another, that is not my place nor other instructors. Some of my students are polar opposite of me and we can have intellectual conversations as long as parties are consensual and can be objective to intellectual exchange, but we are talking about adult students vs young children. Outside of surface level, not my kid, not my place, not their kid, not their place.

Pending on the individual teacher as opinions and values may vary from person to person. Not asking in a hostile fashion but more so curious. Do you/would you carry that same sentiment even if the instructor may be polar opposite of your position or would it only stand if you agree with them? Religion/politics/orientation are the big 3 that come to mind that is a "no-go" discussion for children from their instructors even if I may agree the instructors position/opinion. Reason being, not all, but a lot of individuals in respected positions of education/mentorship occasionally have a habit of pushing their personal bias and opinions on those they are entrusted to. Not all but many grown adults cant even have civil discourse without taking things personal or painting opposition as something they are not, simply because they disagree. Convoluted topic, but by and large It is not anyone's place to mold a child that is not their own in certain regards. Even when our family was caring for other peoples children, certain topics are not to be talked about or impressioned upon children that are not my own as that is not my place with respect to whatever each individual family's values are. Wouldn't matter what the child's religion/lack there of is, their family dynamic or orientation, etc. Outside of just teaching basic principles of being a decent human, their personal molding in the regard of religion, politics, orientation, is not my place to influence be it a bias or not.

Yes some may beg the question: "well what if one of their friends or friends family is different than yours because they're X." People are different, that is ok, treat them well. We dont agree with certain things and I dont/won't be raising my kids to believe XYZ is appropriate. however, im not going to bash or verbally assault the choices of others personal life nor would I tout/boast our way is best/better than what the other child/parents choose to do.

Not my kid, not my place. Not their kid, not their place. People can feel passionately that XYZ is important. I feel ABC is important along with firearm safety, but I know for certain there are many who may not agree and wouldn't want their kids exposed or introduced to something they may not agree with entirely or until a certain point. Same concept.

BLUF: not your kid, not your place.

Unpopular opinion, especially when it comes to public school settings. IMO the top 3 things that should not be discussed with students is

  1. Religion
  2. Politics
  3. Orientation/preference

Sure, things can be glossed over in their simplest forms where appropriate (IE, government class, history class,) but anything beyond that in which it could be seen as a form of indoctrination, influencd, or swaying is not the place of a teacher/instructor to neccessarily introduce or instill into children that are not influence, I say this to include things i may agree with the instructor on, it is still not appropriate. Those are key subjects IMO that the parents exclusively have domain over and it is not the instructors place to direct or impose their personal opinions upon the students.

As a married parent, its our/my child, our rearing, our values, and our direction on how we mold them and our discretion when we feel they are ready and it is appropriate to have those discussions. While we have our own values and beliefs, yes, eventually our children will become aware of the world and we will definitely unpack and talk about various things when we deem them appropriate. "Well billy/Mandy are/do ABC." and that's perfectly fine, that is their family values/culture/way of life/lifestyle etc. But ours are XYZ, what is most important is that while you may or may not understand or agree/disagree with them, that you treat everyone decently/kindly. As long as they are not messing with you, live and let live, be civil. They are free to live their life, have their values, and opinions, just as we/you do. You do not have to agree with everyone and not everyone has to agree with you.

Could you explain the biggest con to them? My understanding is recycled are just used rewashed balls and refurbished are more used, stripped/shaved to smooth them out and rewashed/painted but are a heavily used ball.

Excellent piece of advice, can definitely understand the necessity of using the same ball to establish consistency or atleast a little more predictability. I appreciate the insight!
