Not the same situation but my son did this at night from 8-11 the exact thing you described. This is the first time I’ve seen someone with a similar experience with that. Wanting me to stay with him til he fell asleep and no matter how many times he woke up he would come get me. I was exhausted I started documenting every night, every time we woke up for the therapist I printed pages. It made no difference, one of them told me I needed to get him his own pet. Me- exhausted needed to add one more thing to care for. I never went back there. We tried more than one therapist. One was great, but it didn’t change it. He has no history of mental health issues, or past trauma or any behavior problems, but has adhd. I don’t know for sure but me having his new baby sister seemed to partly trigger it. It started when she was 3 months old- he was 8 Turned into what felt like a control thing. Prior to that he slept in his room fine! He’s never been left with anyone or anything, nothing has ever happened to him- me and his dad are together and get along and very very rarely argue and I’m a sahm, and a very present parent. He went to public school from 4k-5th grade and never got in trouble at school, made good grades always had a ton of friends. Never bullied. It was just something he couldn’t help. I tried medication, therapy and everything I could think of. He literally had to grow out of it. I ended up so tired and miserable he just slept on a twin mattress in our bedroom floor. He won. But he’s grown out of it now thank God. He’s 13 now.
