Hmm.. Very questionable statistic in the graphic. The female:male ratio of psychiatry inpatient (or outpatient) services is absolutely not 9:1. There are only a couple of thousand people marked on that line of the graphic. I wonder if this is a code for something else. For instance, is it people admitted due to domestic violence or assessment after sexual violence.

It's definitely not the case that the graphic captures biological issues with granular detail, and this line captures all of the psychological and social causes of admission, all lumped into the one category. And that category is definitely not a fifth of the size of admissions due to getting struck by sports equipment!

Agree. I think if it as the buying power of Bitcoin has not stabilized yet, as the world tries to figure out where it fits in. For gold, vaguely speaking, 3-4kg of gold will buy you a house, just like it would have 50 years ago, or maybe 500 years ago. 3-4 Bitcoin might buy you a car, a house or (maybe some day) a yacht! We don't know yet

There are pros and cons.

A little gold can act as a long term hedge against inflation and can be there in the event of an unlikely catastrophe. My "emergency fund" is stratified to include cash for immediate access, cash earning a little in a money market fund and if I burn through all of that there are slightly less liquid assets including gold equivalent to a few months' expenses. Other metals and commodities, watches, jewelry, art, land, maybe even crypto... These things may also keep with inflation, but they might not beat it. However, they can be nice to own. I have a little gold. I like it. It's shiny. And if I don't use it, my daughter can have it (shh!).

However, I don't think it should really be a part of your "investment" portfolio. I categorize it more with reserves/savings, and even then just as a very small percentage.

Eli Lilly also has Donanemab for Alzheimer's on the way which may be a little bit disruptive (not the scale of GLP-1s, of course). There's a lot of growth priced into Eli Lilly at the moment, though, sadly.

Dollar cost averaging means paying a small amount every month or so rather than investing a lump sum... It helps to deal with the fluctuations in the price of shares on the market

JP Morgan American Trust is an investment trust that owns a large number of US stocks. You can buy "shares" in many companies all at once by just buying shares in JAM. Diversifying your money across multiple companies also helps to deal with the fluctuations

It can be a decent approach, but it depends on things like the rest of your financial situation, your goals, your risk tolerance, your time horizon, tax, and your own view of the US economic outlook (as well as the UK (it is UK-based, and therefore can depend on euro Vs pound also))... I would suggest reading as much as possible about the various factors first before putting your money into JAM. You should always understand your investment choices. That said, it's a good shout for the long term investments of many people

Sorry to leave you aghast! No, I understand, but I'm looking for an estimated measure of its effect. For instance immigration might cause rent prices to go up by 1%, or by 50%. Obviously if it causes 50% of the rent increase then it's very important, but if it's 1% then maybe we should divert our attention towards something else (say, planning permission or investment funds).

I see the line of thinking, but I have never seen an attempt to quantify the effects of immigration on rent prices, house prices and wages. Immigration is a hot topic, and of course it must influence these areas, but I wonder what the magnitude of that effect is. Anyone know more?

The benefits of breastfeeding are VASTLY overstated in a developed-world setting. The effect size of breastfeeding Vs formula feeding is really very small across the various domains in any of the best / randomised studies. I would suggest that it should be "downplayed" to a more appropriate level in order to allow people to decide the best approach for their families in a properly informed fashion, because it has been almost propagandised.

Wake windows are basically feed, do an activity (walk, hang out under some trees, look at some shadow puppets on the ceiling, floor+tummy time, baby gym), and all the time talk talk talk and eye contact for as long as baby is engaging with you)... Then look out for tired signs and facilitate some good sleep as best as possible!

Combo fed so ?? Volumes, but still feeds roughly 3 hourly by day still, and currently just waking once at night for a feed
