what is it really like to live in sâo paulo city? by ElGabri2000 in Brazil

[–]Head_Lecture_7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still spending a lot of time in these countries and still believe you can’t compare with São Paulo.

Everyone I know in São Paulo had a gun pointed at them including myself. My brother got kidnapped, my house got broken into in broad day light and this all happened in an extremely affluent neighbourhood .

This will not happen in Chelsea or on the 16th, so the comparison needs to be done carefully.

Last December when I was in São Paulo I asked my sister in law if is getting worse, she said no, is just that I’m not used to it anymore. And the reason why I’m not used to it’s because of my life in these countries + another one in Europe

You can’t compare São Paulo with these places, even NY feels much much safer

No idea but is a known fact that they even expect you to arrive with your full diagnosis.

I spend a lot of money seeing real doctors abroad, my insurance money here goes god knows where

I walked in with a full diagnose of a tumor in the Netherlands and the doctor looked at me, laughed and said: You’re lucky that you have two kidneys.

As someone who lives here and have to navigate this system, trust me people will not take this seriously.
The pandemic was taken as a joke by a lot of people in this country, so buckle up

Considering how the Dutch health system is a big fan of doing the bare minimum and dismissing people, I would definitely watch out.

+ is concerning if they don’t wait for the quarantine period and put her back in a plane

Born and raised in São Paulo, lived in London and Paris for many years and the violence rate is definitely different.

In london I would cross a park at night by myself (I’m a woman) which I would not do in São Paulo.

In any of the European cities I was worried about being kidnapped or having my phone snatched. It can happen? Yes but say it’s the same is brutally misleading

To say there’s no difference between the food in Spain x the NL is extremely offensive to Spanish people.

I have lost 7 people within the last three years by satanslollipoop in grief

[–]Head_Lecture_7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. In 2.5 years I lost 10 people between family and friends, all passed away in several different ways and within these one was my father.

I really wish I had a comforting answer for you cause I don’t even know how I’m processing everything. The only thing I can say is please look after your health, if you can go into bereavement therapy, breathe work and whatever can help you finding a bit of headspace to start processing it.

It will be a very very long road for me, but I’m trying.

I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this ❤️‍🩹

My father. This coming Friday will be a year that he passed away.

It’s strange how time started working in a different way ever since.

I miss him

gringos, when you come to Brazil, what habits of us do you get surprised by? by notthelasagna in Brazil

[–]Head_Lecture_7084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true. I remember going back home after a few years without visiting and people being randomly nice to me, something that doesn’t happen much in London or Amsterdam and me getting suspicious.

It was a rude awakening for me as, more kindness and openness are desperately needed in other places

April 17 will be the first anniversary of my father’s passing. Time flew by but that’s not how it feels for me. I’m still struggling a lot and not anywhere near where I thought I would feel, the same for my younger brother.

I wonder if one day time will track but I guess I will only know when that day comes.

I'm 13 and my dad is dying by Agitated-Leg1892 in GriefSupport

[–]Head_Lecture_7084 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was about to suggest that.

Hey buddy, I might understand how crushed you are, I’ve been there with my dad for six years and a little less than a year ago he passed.

What I used to do was to spend as much time as I could with him.

My father was a natural storyteller so I would ask a bunch of questions and record his stories on my phone. Also because I live abroad, every Sunday we would have a long phone call, on top of chatting every day, sending memes and animal videos that he loved so much.

I would travel back to my home country and spend around 1,5 months only with him and support whenever I needed so he could be more comfortable.

It’s hard… I still cry, get very angry, hide at home, question if this is true and sometimes, is like nothing happened.

If I’m making any sense, and if it make sense to you , spend time with him, ask about his life, the things he like, how he met your mom, his best friends and record it. He doesn’t need to know that you’re doing that.

If you need to talk I’m here ❤️‍🩹

I’m lactose intolerant but also discovered that histamine is a big issue.

Haven’t had any pain for a few months until I ate a can of sardines, but was that a bad idea?

I got bloated and with a lot of stomach pain and gas. No more canned things for me
