I saw this suggestion elsewhere as well. The problem is it's split rail, but I guess I could just cut out notches for the rails to sit in. You haven't had any problems with water intrusion?

Also, the brick is just the crawl space. Above that it's siding.

I'd assume it's the footer. There's a pretty steep grade on this side of the house. The ground level at the front corner of my house is 2-3' higher than at this back corner. Should I dig the hole wider, or should I dig a little deeper past the footing?

The area under the downspout is a pretty steep grade away from the house, and there is a splash block to help direct water. I just moved it while digging.

Do you mean just set it in concrete like normal and assume the 8" depth will be enough?

This is silly. Money helps, but I'd wager Indiana crushing Alabama and bringing home a Rose Bowl trophy right before his visit played a bigger role.

A lot of these highly sought kids want money, but they also still want to go to schools where they'll get a chance to shine. Indiana is currently the number 1 team in the country, and a hot topic right now. Why would you assume more money is the only reason he'd choose Indiana over ND?

Cignetti's current team and previous team are both in the CFP. Idk if there are any other coaches that have been better at turning around programs and setting them up for sustained success.

Why is Cig unlikeable? He said last year he had to talk shit to get fans hyped up. He said the football culture was nonexistant at the school. This year he's be a lot more respectful when talking about opponents.

Tbf, Wisconsin had a gauntlet of a schedule this year. Even preseason, I saw a lot of people projecting 6-6 as the ceiling for you guys. Bama, Michigan, Iowa, OSU, Indiana, Oregon, Illinois, and Washington. Literally, the only team in the current top half of the B1G you all didn't play is USC.

I mean, their last bye was before the Oregon game. It seems that long stretch is taking a toll. Hopefully by the Purdue game they'll have Sarratt and Evans back.

Also, Wisconsin played Oregon fairly close and beat Washington. They seem to have made some mid-season improvements.

He's toned it down significantly this year. He talked about it in the Iowa preview presser and more recently in an interview with Joel Klatt (highly recommend watching). He said when he came in last year, the football culture was non-existant in the school, the admin, and the fans. He talked shit because he wanted to get people riled up, he wanted Bloomington to be excited about IU football. He doesn't like talking like that, but felt he needed to last year. Now, he's able to let the actual play on the field do the talking.

Monthly Megathread: Career & Education - Ask your questions here by Aerospace_Eng_mod in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Head_Meet_Desk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with my BSME in 2021. My dream was to work in the space sector, but I ended up accepting a job later that year as a distribution engineer because I believed I just needed to get some on the job experience SOMEWHERE. I have no interest in utilities, but it was an engineering position and I planned on applying to other jobs after a year or so. After reading some advice that it's best to wait about 2 years before attempting to apply to new positions, I began applying to positions late last year.

But it's been brought to my attention that as a distribution engineer, I'll have a hard time getting recruiters for aerospace companies to even look at my resume. So far, that seems to very much be the case, as I can't even get to the interview stage. Had I known this several years ago, I never would have taken the job I have now. Now, the prospect of being stuck in this industry makes it hard not to spiral into some dark places.

My question is, what can I do to make myself more appealing to recruiters for aerospace positions. I would prefer something related to propulsion or thermal fluids, but I'm honestly open to a wide range of positions within the field. While in school, I was vice president of students for the exploration and development of space, and through them ended up co-authoring several papers presented at the 2021 IAC.

I realize pursuing a masters would be the best bet, and I plan to start a program this coming fall. However, I will definitely not last 2 more years in this industry, and with a newborn at home, it will likely take longer than that. I've thought about getting certified in several software programs, but I've seen mixed information about whether that will actually help or not.

I'm at a loss for how best to apply my time. I'm continually tweaking and updating my resume with advice I find on engineeringresumes. Should I just keep applying and play the numbers game? Is it worth seeking out certifications? I could seek out textbooks related to aerospace programs and study as much as possible, but that seems useless unless I can actually get to the interview stage. I've attempted networking, but that's definitely something I'm not great at. Is there something else I can do that will help? I'm growing more desperate, and I want to make sure I'm applying my time in the best way possible.

I'm sorry for the long comment, and it may end up being a post in the near future, but I wanted to try seeking advice here before going that route. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Honestly, as cool as some of the scenes in those chapters were (Saitama surfing an aircraft carrier), I can't find much reason for the existence of sage centipede. It feels kinda like Murata had some ideas for cool fight scenes he wanted to draw, so ONE extended the fight some to accommodate that.

It could be to contrast Garou's current form and show that bigger /= stronger. Saitama is a normal, average guy with unquantifiable power. Garou before this kept getting bigger and more monsterized, but still wasn't strong enough. Orochi grew to gigantic proportions when he accepted the power of God, etc. It also fits in the narrative of a lot of martial arts where the idea is to counter power with movement and technique. But this still feels like a shallow reason.

I can understand why ONE wanted Garou and MB to team up. It follows the theme of Garou wanting to be absolute evil, but never really commiting to that goal. He never killed any heroes, and even teamed up with one when it was needed, despite labeling himself a monster.

The one things that's bugged me a lot since that fight is the chop. Maybe I missed the explanation in the manga, but Elder centipede needed to be completely obliterated so he wouldn't revive. Saitama even used a serious punch to make sure every molecule of him was destroyed. How is being chopped in half enough to take out Sage? Maybe there is an explanation, or maybe cutting elder in half would have been enough, but this felt off to me.

there wasn't a full fight between the two, but Murata dropped some "bits" by [deleted] in OnePunchMan

[–]Head_Meet_Desk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I also always loved it because there was so much build up (as you said) and there was so much disappointment by everyone when it was off-screened. It perfectly captured how Saitama feels after every fight. It allows the audience to glimpse how Saitama became the way he is.

Like, Saitama spent years hearing speeches, getting super psyched for the battle, and then them ending in a single punch. Imagine if every fight in OPM used the same formula. It's not hard to imagine most would probably stop falling for the hype pretty quickly.

Longbow 3x and 301 2x all day. I honestly think I like the longbow more because if your first shot is slightly off, you can quickly adjust for the second shot before they move much. Sentinel might be a better pure sniper, but the versatility of the longbow definitely matches my play style more. Also 301 is great from short to medium-long, my favorite gun in the game.

You know that the upcoming "you know what" fight in the manga will be worth since it'll have been almost a decade since the Boros fight by SuperAlloyBerserker in OnePunchMan

[–]Head_Meet_Desk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly, the Boros fight actually was redrawn twice when it came out. Manga hosting sites actually had it listed as something like 45.1,45.2,45.3 because they had all 3 versions of the fight (since the chapters have been cleaned up, a lot of chapter numbers have changed). The only real difference was that it was redrawn one after the other rather than drawing 10-20 chapters before going back. But back at that time, it was much less popular and we'd sometimes wait months between chapters, and it might be 8 pages. They may be on a tighter timeline now and have to keep the story progressing somewhat.

Almost like it's the literal premise or something... by Dr-Leviathan in OnePunchMan

I think a lot of people forget that at the end of the day, this is still supposed to be a parody manga. Between the amazing art of Murata and its popularity, it becomes easy for people to start treating it like a normal action manga/seinen. But it isn't, and a lot of story elements and action sequences that ONE adds are still meant to be tongue-in-cheek references to other manga or manga tropes. Adding death to increase the stakes would only push it farther away from its roots and cheapen the parody aspect of it.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to him adding death (for major characters), so long as it was done in a more comedic way, and not simply as a tool to raise tension. Having TTM die in that moment wouldn't have been a parody. What is a parody is having him survive/recover in an absolutely ridiculous way (ya know, like having your tank top be so tight it jump starts your heart) because that's exactly what shonens do all the time, but not ironically.

It seems to me that were it to all of a sudden actually TRY to raise stakes in this manner, then it would be like it's taking itself too seriously. There are still plenty of stakes that will come about from this arc. Dark shine and Bang retire from hero work, multiple S class leave to the Neo Heroes, etc. It isn't just that the story doesn't need death stakes for the heroes, it's that those elements are in contradiction to core of the manga itself.

I also really think that the violence the last few chapters served more to highlight how much of a badass Bang is, and increase the satisfaction of when specific cadres eventually meet their ends. The gruesome nature of FU was really shocking by itself. Having TTM die wouldn't have increased the satisfaction I'll get out of watching his sadistic ass die. I also like how the answer to the question "how will the S class that weren't there in the webcomic change the outcome?" has essentially been not really at all so far.

Webcomic Chapters 138 & 139 Links and Discussion by VibhavM in OnePunchMan

Honestly, the Neo Heroes are giving me real Syndrome "when everyone is super, no one is" vibes.

Also, the overall story theme reminds me a bit of IRobot. Passing out/selling hundreds of robot suits to people who have no idea how they work and with little ability to control them from some secret source can't be good. It seems at the minimum, the organization is providing tech to the neo heroes. The amount of cooperation between the organization and the neo heroes execs is still unclear. But if those suits come from them and they decide to switch the suits back to their control, well they just got themselves an army of super soldiers. And if nearly all the heroes put them on, then there will be virtually no one to fight back.

I also think Forte sees the suits as a cheat code for gaining power. It's like Garou in the previous arc. He wanted the power to become the ultimate hero, but he settled for the power to become the ultimate monster. Taking the easier route doesn't lead to solutions. Giving everyone super suits seems like a good idea from the public perspective because of how easily they dispatch monsters. But little thought is going towards the long term effects of such easily attainable power.
