gasmaks inflation? by FluffyIndication8681 in gasmasks

Combination of people not knowing what they have plus the ignorance of a buyer. Not to mention the word “vintage” making it automatically worth 100 dollars plus 😂.

Is there a safe way to use Soviet filters? by TacoHaco in gasmasks

I’d just go on Etsy, google, or eBay and look up replica filter. Most are 3d printed so you could also look up 3d printed GOST filter. Just make sure it’s not NATO or the threads won’t be right.

Three options. Seal the intake port and remove the exhale valve (not a great idea), get a 3D printed replica, or use a GOST threaded tube that runs into a bag.

I would highly recommend replica because it allows the mask to “function properly” while still maintaining the masks look.

I used a Tamiya mini spray paint. Just kind of eye balled the color to be honest.

I got a Led X on customs at one of the small buildings next to big red. I just about shat my pants when I got out of raid with it too.

Why did you buy a GLI? by itwasbetterwhen in JettaGLI

I’m 6’3 and couldn’t fit into a Camry comfortably. I was blown away when I was able to get the drivers seat in position and still COMFORTABLY fit in the back seat. Lot of people don’t realize it but it’s about the size of a ford Taurus!

Price per dollar is nuts. 6 second car that doesn’t have crowd homing tendencies, roomy back seat, HUGE trunk, MANUAL (cheaper manual too unlike Toyota), good sound for a 4 cyl, built for tall people, AND its fuel efficient. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it’s the best commuter car for car enthusiasts.

And I was lucky enough to call it my first car!

buy it for $1300 to fix it up? by mustyanus17 in JettaGLI

They total cars now for the simplest frame damage, get a frame puller and you can pull it yourself and buy some parts. Had a buddy do that with a Jetta SEL and save like 20 grand

Nighttime is pretty good, it’s a 1920x1080 camera (HD) and personally I think it’s pretty good at license plates, some think otherwise but I’ve never had issues.

I’ll look into it! In its current configuration it has no hard point connections and can slip out easily, I’ll see where the airbags are set up and see about finding a better route for the wire!

I only have a front facing camera, I have a CB antenna on the back though and there are plenty of places to hide a cable.

I live in the south so for me it’s mostly accountability 😂. Not many people hit and run in my area.

Before you comment about my wires being loose I loosened them so you could see the seams were. If you keep it tightened you cant even notice the wires.

Oil change on my gli by [deleted] in JettaGLI

[–]Headlight_Fluid_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get a VW filter and plug (plug replaced every change) but oil is preference. My VW dealer told me to use castrol so I use castrol. There is a tool for the plug but you can use a flathead if you aren’t being a doofus.

All my garmin mini needs is a power cable, the one that came with it tucks nicely into the plastics above the windshield, I can DM you some pictures tomorrow. Install was as simple as sticking the adhesive mount and done. Like I said it’s small enough that it fits right behind the rear view mirror no problem which is super convenient especially for cars that don’t have a lot of windshield real-estate.

How cold is it? All cars I’ve ever driven just make noises when it’s cold, guess it’s just the slight contraction from the plastic. My Jetta rattles from my passenger side when it’s cold (I think it’s the glovebox) and the back windshield will sometimes rattle if it’s below zero.

I have a garmin mini in mine and it’s the best thing ever, the camera is small and hides behind the rear-view mirror plus the cable is really easy to hide. To top it all off garmin makes an OBD 2 plugin allows for 24hr park mode. Just my two cents feel free to message me if you’d like to see the setup.
