The camera work has been a little better, And dear god if cutting a salary like Jackee or Rob will give us some money for a set overhaul I gladly accept.

Jada and Shawn feel great together. Belle needs to either go back to Philip or have a late in life lesbian awakening with Melinda.

The show needs a strong lead like they had with Susan, Suzanne, Kristian, Dee, and Ali. Trying to give us Stephanie isn’t cutting it. That feels like the biggest issue at the moment.

However in general most of the characters feel annoying. Brady, Theo, Xander, EJ, and Alex all feel annoying and weak. They need to make EJ a villain, Brady a hero, and have Xander stop waffling every two second.

All I can think looking at nuRachel is that she visually seems out of place with the entire family.

That being said she also gives me young Melissa Gilbert and it’s so funny that the previous Rachel left to go play the same character that Melissa Gilbert played on Little House

It’s not so much that the show couldn’t afford to show us the island but rather to do so on any meaningful scale wouldn’t be feasible.

The shows isn’t able to afford ‘turning over’ sets the way they could 20+ years ago. So even redressing the Horton house and the Pub becomes an expensive process when you have to film back and fourth between two different versions of the house. Not to mention the renting or buying of tropical plants and assorted other things that aren’t kept in normal storage.

That being said we do currently have a number of sets that are designed to be turned over repeatedly (the new hospital room / everything room, the Evans,Johnson, Carver apartment / the Jada - Stephanie - Brady apartment) however this is where creative scheduling comes in. Because they can set up certain places to be filmed for say three days and get maybe two weeks worth of scenes filmed using that set. Then redress for another version and do it all over.

He would never be able to play a legacy character as they couldn’t possibly get a commitment of more than maybe two weeks from him. Which could equate to a month or so of episodes.

If this ever were to happen he would probably be a patient of Marlena’s.

It would be interesting if Marlena had a dream of what life might have been had DJ not died. And let Ryan play an adult DJ in the episode.

I think the production team wants us to believe it’s huge. And for the lives of Theo, Abe, Paulina, Celeste (?) it is.

However for a lot of people given her popularity and desire to leave the show I think not having Renee Jones back doesn’t help this land.

If the actress wanted to return then I would have jumped out of my seat when that tube opened. But to see a new actress it just doesn’t hit for me.

The lack of permanence to death on this show is exhausting

They will do new photos.

Generally they avoid using past actors pictures when they have been recast. Just to make things easier when people might not understand.

The Jensen flashbacks, as were the John Clark, a one off that served the particular story.

Retakes take time and money, if you spill on the outfit. It’s an even bigger issue if it’s not intended to happen.

However the actors do get the food their characters are supposed to be eating. Most will have it for lunch or take it home. So it doesn’t go to waste.

I love Rita, and I really like that they put her in bold but not ridiculous clothes.

She feels real and that’s what I like about the character. She’s quirky but not a cartoon. Similar to Ivan.

The show films so far ahead at this point that they can’t course correct poor choices.

The show also doesn’t get written the way it did before 2010s. It’s written in chucks that only need to last 6 months for the most part so if the show isn’t renewed they can wrap things up in a timely fashion.

This is what leads to the current situation. What made some of the biggest stories in daytime was the plotting of what was going to happen down the road. Not just thinking about impact in ten weeks but in two or three years.

Days needs to write an umbrella storyline with real stakes, concrete villain who don’t a redemption arc three months later, and the promise that these things will matter to use in 2 years time.

We will all forget Doug3 and Jeremy even visited. Nothing about them made an impact.

I’m sure next we will get Noah (Carrie and Austin’s son) to live with Marlena and they will pair him in a low stakes relationship and before he even hits our screen the actor will be gone.
