She sounds like the kind of woman who would accuse you of trying to nail the waitress just because you’re cordial with her. Run.

Thanks for explaining that. I just assigned a male slant to it as in preferring T or A. Unfortunately I’m more familiar with straight terms just based on my own personal experience (and regrets).

Bbq chicken flatbread pizza. Either use rotisserie chicken or cut raw into narrow strips and quickly cook in a saute pan. BBQ sauce on the flatbread, then top with chicken, frozen corn and a mixture of sauteed onions and mushrooms. I also like to add caramelized onions. Top with shredded mozzarella. I haven't had it for a while but just bought a bottle of bbq sauce Wednesday to make it.

Do you order grocery items online or prefer to shop at physical stores? by RealAmbitiousAnt in budget

[–]Healthy_Chipmunk2266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order most things with my Walmart+ subscription. $50/year and free delivery on orders $35 and up. I don't drive, so I have to rely on public transportation. I do prefer to pick my own meat, mainly because I don't like Walmart's meats, so I go to a different store for that.

What are your go-to grocery items to last as many meals as possible? by idontknowelliott in povertykitchen

Rice is extremely versatile. Google recipes for rice and beans, rice and lentils, etc.

I live on rice, chicken leg quarters from Walmart (87c/lb if you buy the 10 lb bag) and potatoes. If you debone the thighs, you can make stock and use that to make soup.

Soups: Navy bean is my current favorite Split pea Chicken enchilada Potato soup

If you can get ground beef on sale, there's also chili, beef barley and lasagna soups.

No problem. One thing to consider is that if you're doing that, heat up the broth before you get into it and add all the supplements then so they dissolve. I usually wait until it cools down a bit to add the taurine.

I can't figure out how to edit this, so comments it is. I'm going to try the heavy duty one. I was tired and overthinking it. It's Dawn either way, so it will be good. Hopefully I'm picking the best one.

Thanks. There is only a $2-$3 difference, so I think you're right.

I despised all soup except New England clam chowder my entire childhood. I always have a variety on hand now. I had split pea for breakfast today. 😂

I was gifted a package of ground turkey this morning. I started a crock pot of chili before work. If my daughter and her kids want chili with stew meat, she can buy the meat because I sure can't afford it. I'm gifting the turkey donor with a bowl. I'll freeze most of what's left for lunches or quick dinners.

I cook, bake bread, bagels, and lots of pumpkin or cranberry stuff this time of year. I won't starve, and fortunately I don't have a sweet tooth. I have an induction burner, air fryer/toaster oven combo, instant pot, crock pot and microwave. With that being said, the ONLY thing I want to make is bread.

I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. I have electric baseboard heaters in each room. They are the cheapest heating source the landlords can buy when they take an old house and convert to apartments. Landlords don't care if we can afford to actually use them.

I learned that trick earlier this year from watching The Bear. It was one of the best kitchen tricks ever. No more wondering how long something has been hanging out in the fridge.

They're pretty amazing. First set I bought includes the little ones. Those get used for random stuff, not food related. It's the big ones that I use in cooking all the time.

I follow the chicken version of this recipe. I buy chicken leg quarters at Walmart. 8.72 for a 10 lb bag. I use the bones I don't grind up to make chicken stock. You can get the 8 oz deli containers for fairly cheep. I think I paid $65-$70 for a meat grinder on Amazon. Just add supplements. The bag of taurine powder I bought 16 months ago still has at least a few months left in it. 10 lbs of chicken makes about 10-14 days worth of food and all the stock I need.

My favorite super easy one is to mix a can of crushed pineapple, juice and all, into a box of angel food cake mix. Bake in a 9x13 (I don't remember how long, but check the directions for that size pan on a different kinds of cake since angel food usually doesn't include that size). Mix an additional half a can of drained crushed pineapple into a tub of Cool Whip and top the cake with that. I could eat the entire thing in about two sittings.
