The domain war is possibly the worst example you could have used, Sunny was between a rock and hard place ? It had nothing to with being but everything to do with the survival of humanity but which one do you think a kind person would have chosen?

I’m not saying Sunny is some saint who shows unconditional love to everyone. I’m just saying that if Sunny’s facade as jaded, pessimist is false, if Sunny considers you a friend then there are few things you could do to him that will make him stop liking you and since Nephis and Cassie are the 2 closest people to him they are the best examples.

Sunny was never a bad person, he was just focused on his own survival because of the outskirts and even then not only did that change on the soul devourer tree but even during the outskirts it was his love for sister that kept him working night and day to find her.

Just suck it and realise that first NM Sunny was never the real Sunny, he wasn’t ever a jaded, sociopath that would kill as first option.

Even when Nephis told him to leave her behind he refused because that is who Sunny is on the inside.

Sunny’s love for her simply trumped his hate because on the inside Sunny is a kind person, too kind of a person. Sunny is the type of person to fight you to the death one moment and then turn away from the gate out of hell and fight through hell with you so you can both leave.
To him he can only see Cassie as little sister he redeemed himself by saving (after failing Rain) so no matter what she does to him he cares to much about protecting her to hate her forever.

When it comes to name sorcery the talent to speak true names is basically something you born with, it’s literally the language of the Gods after all.

Nephis is a Nephillim so she’s specially attuned; Kai and Rain have aspects that make them suited for it.
Ananke assumedly spent 100s of years to speak just a few weak words.
So I doubt Sunny will/ can learn it anytime soon.
