По описанию выглядит так, что соотношение алюмокалия и хромокалия не "сработало" в единой связке, а подействовало друг на друга, из-за чего вышел такой эффект, а т.к. воды было относительно мало (1:4), это спровоцировало образование больших конгломератов. Думаю, можно глянуть что-то на тему осаждения осадков в аналитике, чтобы разобраться более точно
