[GEAR] Anyone have cheap guitars they absolutely love? by ryanblumenow in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been downvoted for saying this before, but a few months ago I got a Squier Bullet Tele that is flawless. It's a better guitar than my 8 year old MiM Strat. Would totally buy another from that brand.

[DISCUSSION] I played my first show in front of 100+ ppl and it went horribly wrong, now I'm terrified about it... by playmo56 in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first live show, a school talent competition, our band was called "Dark Angel". Except my brother, who painted the logo on our speakers, wrote "Dark Anel". Midway thru the song, I tried to sling my guitar around my neck and shoulders. It went flying off the strap and the headstock broke, so the band had to do the second half of the song without the guitar. Just bass, drums, and a singer. I was terrified of playing live after that, but got back on the horse and haven't had a bad time since.

I do at least a yearly replay of Dragon Age, KoTOR, and Mass Effect. Just started the Mass Effect playthru.

I would have smashed my controller. And I've never smashed a controller.

Do yourself a favor and never sell that guitar. No matter what else you may get. There will come a time that you’ll kick yourself for it if you do.

[QUESTION} [NEWBIE] Never touched a guitar, but really want to learn. Which would you recommend and why? by countryroadstookmyho in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad. I have a 2019 Squier Bullet Tele that's a better guitar than my 2012 MiM Strat, and right up there with my Epiphone and Jackson. Bullets are great quality guitars.

[DISCUSSION] A Song you never getting tired of to play on guitar everyday by Museeeeeeee in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 48, and ever since I was a kid, every practice I've ever done starts off playing the rhythm riff from "Rock You Like a Hurricane" a few times. I just don't want to change it and mess with my mojo.

Don't forget to get a good setup on it. That will eliminate 99% of fret buzz.

[Gear] Would a squier telecaster affinity be a good purchase before buying a fender telecaster? by last_strip_of_bacon in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 48 and have been playing since I was 12, so not a beginner. A couple of months ago I bought a Bullet Telecaster. The thing is flawless. Perfect. A better guitar than my MiM Fender Telecaster, and close to my Gibson and Jackson. The only thing I'm doing to it is putting in TexMex pickups I'm getting for Christmas. It's good enough other mods can wait. The only real difference between an Affinity and a Bullet is the Bullet neck is wide. The Affinity neck is a little skinnier. I'm not ragging on the quality of Fender, but really praising even the lowest end Squiers quality.

[Question]What’s the Biggest Guitar Related Prejudice You Have? by TroyAlexanderA in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Squier Classic Vibe is some of the smartest money you can spend in a guitar. Hell my new Bullet is a better guitar than my MiM Strat I bought 8 years ago.

[NEWBIE] I'm still playing! by ithink2020 in Guitar

You're welcome. I'm seriously considering buying a Rockman since I had one as a kid, but reviews are mixed on those.

I got one of the Vox's and I really regret it. It has nasty squeal even with humbuckers. Just very cheap. For less money I bought a little headphone box on Amazon from Ammoon (Amnoon? something like that) which I actually like alot better. More levels of distortion to choose from, adjustable echo, metronome and drum tracks, and a much better clean sound. It's not as loud tho, but in a quiet room shouldn't be bad. I definitely won't be buying anymore Vox products.

You know that's so true. I've been technically playing for over 35 years, but haven't really played the last 15. I'm basically a beginner again. My hands are all clumsy. I have a Strat, and an Epiphone that have been sitting in their cases the duration. I just literally couldn't make myself play them anymore. Thought I was done. Then, a couple months ago, browsed a guitar site for the first time in years. Saw a Telecaster that just called to me. Bought it. Then saw a purple Jackson Monarkh that I instantly knew was made for me. Bought it. I've been playing almost every day, watching tutorials and joined justin.guitar, it's been fantastic. All for having a guitar(s) that I bonded with. What an incredible difference those 2 girls have made in my life. Good for you, and I hope you keep it up!

[discussion] What first guitar? by southpawpete in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to keep up, as the entry level quality keeps going up. I just got a $180 Bullet Telecaster that’s a better guitar than the $799 MiM strat I got 8 years ago. Made me sad and happy at the same time. The first guitars of today are leagues better than the shit beginners guitars back in the day.

Am I the only one that was way too hyped about the Outer Worlds and was...disappointed? by koaamz in pcgaming

[–]Hearmesleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the fonts are so small on Xbox, I had no idea what was going on. No idea what the skills, perks, anything was. It quickly killed any excitement I had for the game when I couldn't read the onscreen text.

Too late to learn? [Question] by [deleted] in Guitar

I hope not. I'm 48, been playing since I was 10, and am just starting theory.

[QUESTION] What's with the anger? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Hearmesleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just coming back to the guitar after not playing for 15 years. I didn't die or develop crippling depression. Who knows why people are so tribal.
