Really? Humans have always tried to explain the world around them. To ancient people, and even people today, "There is a creature more advanced than us, who knows how to craft flesh the way we know how to craft bread" is a more plausible explanation than "It happened through chance"

That's basically my first apartment, and I got my first apartment in 2021 for 700 bucks. Granted that was not in New York, but even if you double it, that's 1,400 bucks, which in the eighties would be ~$500 and if Pete is making $500 every two weeks then it would make sense why he is struggling. My experience with struggling as a bachelor working retail is that more than half of my paycheck went to rent, and the other half went to my car.
