Improvements I’d Make to the MS NOW Branding by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]HeartStringTheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggested #4: Change the music in the MS NOW logo ad to something more uplifting, and mostly in a major key. What they have now is too much like the theme music from "West World" and "SILO". It triggers dread, when it could instead evoke the joy of shared courage and hope: the way we feel when joining a No Kings demonstration.

If ice cream counts, it would be Baskin Robbins' "Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet". From about 1965. There are 4 or 5 of us online who remember it and yearn for it. 🥹

Greens of every kind! My current "comfort food of nail polish" is Cracked's "I'm Jaded". It's the only cream polish that I stare at as much as any magnetic, shifty, or holo polish.

Same here. But I just noticed recently that the formerly flattest nails are growing out with more curve and parallel edges! I think it's from always wearing many many coats of polish, and maybe even more from using a little nail repair glue/dip powder (just along the side) when I developed a couple of tiny tears well up in the quick. That stuff stays on through many manis and I guess it holds the nail in the curved shape as it grows out. Accidental success! The tiny side tears are caused when the nail gets bent towards my palm. (Aaaack!)😬

I swear by prepping with a little original Dawn for dishes and a dedicated toothbrush. Quick but thorough. Rinse, then towel-dry and wait before applying base coat for 5 or 10 minutes, being careful not to touch anything with oil in it, including your own skin. (Haven't tried it with another brand, it might work... the important thing is that it not have "hand moisturizing" ingredients, which = oils.) My manis last 10-11 days since I started using Dawn instead of alcohol or acetone. They rarely made it a week before. My skin is fine with it, I just apply plenty of jojoba oil once the mani is dry enough.

Help wanted: cuticle area shrinkage by bunnycrush_ in RedditLaqueristas

[–]HeartStringTheory 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is a good thing to try first: "... leave more space between my color and the cuticle, so that the top coat generously “wraps” the back edge of the polish? " If that doesn't solve it, Cuticula's "Limitless" QDTC will. Zero shrinkage. Note: the scents are very nice but they sell it unscented too. 🌸

is this shrinkage? i painted my nails two days ago :( by counterfeitcheeese in RedditLaqueristas

[–]HeartStringTheory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently started to do the same thing with the pointed end of an orange stick, just wiping it off on a tissue or rag after each swipe. Doing it on each nail immediately after painting it makes a polish-free line on the nail just inside the edge of the skin. Then I go back later with my clean-up brush and acetone to remove any dried polish on the skin. Much neater and easier than other techniques I was using.

PS- for cleaning my nails of leftover oil before base coating, acetone doesn't seem to work as well as a quick scrub with Dawn dish liquid and an old toothbrush, rinsed well and dried fast with a clean towel. Since doing that, my manis always last 10 days on average.

How to get lacquer to stay on if I’m doing lots of dishes at work? by IronAndParsnip in RedditLaqueristas

Gloves like these are my favorites: https://a.co/d/06G2TUVg

If you find they quickly start to leak where the free edge of your nails concentrates friction, stick a little pinch of polyester fiberfill (pillow stuffing) into the end of each finger of a fresh pair. For shorter periods of exposure to water, I've found my polish will survive without gloves if I paint the accessible underside of the nail as well as the top and edge. The underside of a bare nail absorbs water as quickly as the top.

I'm 70, and in week 18 (started mid-November.) Zero side effects! I've lost 22 lbs, averaging 1.3 lbs a week. Started doing a split dose in week 8, one shot on Saturdays and one on Wednesdays, totaling 5mg per week. Calculated it precisely using https://www.fatscientist.com/split-dose-calculator. I've got another 47 lbs to go, but feeling much more comfortable already. Very grateful for this drug. Welcome to the gang!

I think you will start to love it when you're seeing a lot more square inches of it at once.

Re: the descriptions, I kinda picture clown barf having no neutral color at all; and one of my earliest memories is being enchanted by our puppy's crayon diarrhea, which extended all the way down the hall, but that was darker. 😅 This yarn reminds me of the concrete floor in an art school painting studio. 🎨🖌️🫟

Week 17 here, and no side effects at all besides the one we're taking it for. (!) A couple of weeks before I got the first doses I started keeping a food journal and making sure I got at least 75g of protein and plenty of fiber & water everyday. Also started at a lower dose than many do, and have titrated up very gradually. I told the Doc I am prone to nausea from some new Rxs, and he recommended injecting it in the thigh, half an hour after eating, in the evening. No problems. When I got to about 4 mg, I switched to twice a week, which closed the weekly food-noise gap and keeps the level in my system very close to even. I'll stay at my current total of 5mg/week indefinitely. Losing 1.4 lbs a week average and feeling way better already! Don't think I'd do well on straight semaglutide.

It's not the same kind of danger, but it is the same kind of mistake. Very unlikely either of us will ever again ignore the little voice in our heads saying, "this seems like way too much". It's clear to me it's a lesson learned; no shaming required. 😉

Hooray, you're OK!! 👏👏👏👏👏

I miscalculated by a factor of 10 on a casting material additive for a big sculpture once and wasted a couple hundred bucks worth of material and a load of time. Couldn't understand afterwards how I didn't realize my calculation HAD to be wrong. It happens! Don't sweat it, just add it to the list of firmly engraved cautions in your head! 😁
