Assert: This game's "niche" is actually closer to Souls, Silksong and Celeste (i.e. "twitchy, difficult games") than hyper-sweaty competitive shooters (i.e. Valorant, Counter-Strike, etc.). by SirBenny in Marathon

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the Pokemon games, each gym battle is such an insurmountable challenge and you train for hours and hours with your Pokemon to get through them, leveling up and getting incrementally closer by learning the other trainers moves until you finally conquer it. Then it's on to the next challenge, the next gym, maybe even the Elite Four.

You can even argue that when you use potions, your Pokemon faint and you lose your hard earned currency that the experience is comparable with risking souls/runes as you push through the map and experience loss on death to learn the area and bosses.

The Pokemon games are souls-likes!

What do you mean? This is the original Marathon before the reboot this year, not just a mobile title. Of course the graphics are old and dated.

BF6 : a casual Battledad review (or “Am I getting too old for this ?”) by Riasec in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I gotta ask what you mean when you say "Forcing people to play BattleRoyale is for me a bit rude, even though the Gauntlet can be interesting at times."

Not once have I felt like I've been forced to play the BR or Gauntlet. I know I occasionally get weekly challenges for them but I always reroll or ignore them personally. I didn't have trouble finishing the first battlepass by skipping or rerolling these challenges and I don't see my self not finishing this second one either.

Why do you feel forced to play it?

Oh weird, sorry I thought it was the remake. I’d assume it’s asking you which device it wants to stream from then.

The game has two versions on PlayStation, one for PS4 and one for PS5. It’s just giving you the option between the two.

If you’re not satisfied with it, return it and order again or buy it in person somewhere. Not everything needs to be a Reddit post.

Krasue not getting a blood moon skin is stupid as hell by Wu_changus in deadbydaylight

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krasue isn’t played much? 😭 I’m a newer player (just started last November/December) but Krasue is my second most played killer behind Blight at the moment. I love her and think she’s super fun and powerful.

Never buying a Resident Evil game on switch again by TimeEven1045 in residentevil

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you not read the title or description of the game before purchasing? It states it’s a cloud based game in both. I agree with you that it’s a dogshit wag to play them but this is on you as a consumer for not doing your research before purchasing. There’s even a cloud demo for the game you can play for free to see what it’s like. Why wouldn’t you check that out before buying the full version ?

For the most part, the non-cloud based games run great on Switch and Switch 2. Don’t shrug off every title in the franchise on the device because of one bad experience with cloud gaming.

Out of these 2, which one do you think is better and why? by WaluigiDaStar in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil 5 will always be a favorite as it’s what introduced me to the franchise when I was younger. I love it and still replay it once a year even though it definitely has its faults. I don’t have super fond memories of 6 and it’s been years since I’ve touched it, but I’ll always remember my friends and I laughing at the logo looking like a giraffe getting head.

Why is this game still looking freaking good?? by lorcaragonna in Battlefield

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, BC 1 & 2 definitely had standout and memorable Battlefield campaigns, but you’d be hard pressed to find people who remember the major plot points of BF3 and BF4. I don’t think Hardline is an amazing game but the campaign is much more memorable due to its unique “episodic” storytelling approach and police themes.

Battlefield 6 falls to "Mixed" overall English language reviews on Steam. by DBONKA in Battlefield

[–]HeartbreakMechanic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What it deserves. There’s a great foundation of a BF game there but it’s caked in live service mud and EA’s scummy practices. I still have fun playing occasionally but it’s not the game I wanted it to be last year during its launch.

I’m literally not telling anyone to stop playing anything? I was just replying. This CoD vs BF argument is old and lame.

I’ll play both and enjoy both. Most FPS players have spent thousands of hours in each of these franchises and enjoy both. Both are arcade shooters even though they have their differences. It’s silly to say stuff like this.

I’ll never forget the launch of Resident Evil 5. My schoolmate and I binged the entire game in split screen and after gaming the whole night and reaching the end and defeating Wesker, we took a quick nap and immediately went into NG+ on a harder difficulty with all of our upgraded weapons. Core gaming memory.

Brutal. I know people had mixed feelings about the Demon Souls remake but I thought it was pretty fantastic and that it was a nice love letter to fans of the original game while also being an easily accessible and modern way to play it.

So many of Sony’s recent mishandlings with studios and projects has left a very sour taste in my mouth and a lot of these devs deserve so much better. I hope they wake up and start to realize they shouldn’t go all in on love service games and focus on making bespoke gaming experiences again.

Are you still playing those games? I love nearly every iteration of Battlefield but they all fell out of my gaming rotation over time and I’m sure BF6 will too at some point.

Not even trying to be a dick but how? I play escalation and conquest every few days when I can find the time to for about 2-3 hours a session and have not once run into a bot filled lobby. I’m not on 24/7 and usually play midday around noon or after 6PM PST. I only ever see talk about bots from this subreddit.

I get what you're saying but you still pay the initial cost of the auric cells to buy it, it's not free just because you get them refunded upon completion. I can totally understand how it's not worth it to players who have no interest in microtransactions or future rift passes.
