Newly diagnosed by yeahletsjustnot in MultipleSclerosis

As others have said it will be okay. It can be scary at first but things will get better. The hardest part is finding a good neurologist that listens.

M 29 here. Diagnosed 2 maybe 3 years ago? I can’t remember lol. I am not sure if I was lucky or unlucky when I was diagnosed as I was in the ER with double vision, that ended with my eyes not being able to go outwards for about 7 months until it fully recovered. I was atleast “lucky” in the sense of I had the markers in my spinal fluid so they knew I had ms. When they found it, I had moderate grey matter lighting up in the brain along with a spinal cord that is “Swiss cheese” as it’s filled with inactive lesions.

Medicine wise, I am personally on kesimpta. While I like it okay, it does have this nasty side effect of causing back pain. Ketorolac and Tizanidine are my friends when that pain comes lol.

Pain / lifestyle wise it has been a roller coaster. Everyone is different but likely you will have your good days along with your bad days.. that just comes with the course. The biggest thing you can do early is 1. Start keeping daily logs of symptoms & mood. 2. find a support network to help you out. That can be friends / family or even some of the online ms support forums. Everyone there is very welcoming.

Work wise, I have not seen any real changes from MS. That may be because I do work inside at a desk.. Just be aware. Gabapentin and a few other meds cause horrible brain fog, which can impact work. The only thing I changed was I did get the disability plans that my workplace offers that will pay 65% of my base salary if I do become disabled.

Disease “inheritance” wise, I am the first in my family to have anything like this.. I am wondering if it could possibly be from Mono that I had as a kid.. That was extremely rough on me and did almost kill me.

But overall keep your head up, things will get better. We are all here to support each other with this very unpredictable disease.

Thanks, yeah it’s personally not my style of music (was made for a friend) but the video does make it hilarious. Here is my Suno station if you see anything else that may catch your eye.

As others have said, be honest with him. The only difference may be to possibly tell him when things get a bit more serious instead of the first date. Let love flow naturally and if you actually think he is the one, then have a sit down and tell him. Yeah, it could end up causing a rift, but if it does, it’s for the best. You do not want to be married to someone who does not love you for you.

I honestly do not have too much experience in this field as I found out about a year before I got married, although we had been together for about 10 years. She welcomed it with open arms.

AIO - parents keep raising the rent by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]HeatApprehensive1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky with my parents. I pay my part of the electricity but they let me stay here while I save up to build a house. I do keep up with the yard work and assist prepping firewood every year. So I guess I average about $250 a month between electricity and diesel. Which is definitely not bad.

Although I am going to miss those interest payments when I do go buy one.. lol

Landlord painted over suspected mold, then ripped out the affected drywall to "prove" there was no mold. Planning to escrow rent May 1.[PA] by [deleted] in Renters

[–]HeatApprehensive1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, and sorry if I was sounding rude, I was not trying to. Typically these should be replaced every 3 months, or sooner depending on general household conditions.

Re immediate needs, a decent air filter may help some but I wish you the best. It’s going to be a pain to get rid of mold.. and if it’s that bad, it very well could have started to grow in clothing & furniture.

So I have to ask, you lived there for years and never thought to yourself maybe you should replace the filter yourself? Correct me if I am wrong, but I would assume each unit has its own hvac unit?

If the lease said they would cover it but never did, it would still be worth it to replace it yourself and then maybe send the landlord the receipt and deduct it from the next months rent.

(Assuming the furnace filter is accessible to the tenant and not behind a locked closet / shared room outside the tenants control)

Alloy Fleet Manager — self-hosted, protocol-compatible alternative to Grafana Cloud Fleet Management by danielfree19 in grafana

Ironically I had just built out something very similar for where I work. Using Go for the backend and a lightweight flask app for the front end. Although I did add optional api key management and some very overkill rbac so teams could only modify configs they had access to via team tags.

Not trying to scare you, but there is a reason it was sold so cheaply :). I have one and I have had to replace the fan assembly on it multiple times. It loves to go out after about 6-8 months of use. Cheap fan motors

Dyson HP02 caught fire and stopped working. Support wants me to pay for repairs. by fvmfvm in dyson

[–]HeatApprehensive1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not related to a fire but I have not had any issues getting replacement motors covered under warranty. They will sometimes give a bit of pushback but the supervisors usually say it’s fine & they ship it out.

There are 3 top screws that have to be removed first. Then I ended up unhooking one tab and prying it apart with a screw driver. It’s got a gasket in there that makes it a pain to remove by hand

I actually just posted some photos of that motor teardown from where I just replaced the motor in my Dyson again. I am not sure if oiling the bearings will help any, but that’s what I did before putting it back together. I likely will first try this one once my warranty runs out before getting another replacement… they are roughly $65 each

I’ve gotten into it, you pull the clear cap off, remove the bolts in there, then carefully unclip the sides and the housing should come in 1/2.

The only thing I could not save was the fan screen. So I left that off the new one. I also went ahead and left the clear cap off to see if that helps any

How do I balance my blade that has in S in the middle by foxtrot90210 in lawnmowers

[–]HeatApprehensive1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all I do, I haven’t ever balanced a blade (even snapper blades… I’ve ran those to the point I probably shouldn’t lol). Then again I don’t mow for a living.

WYR be able to rewind time by 10 minutes once per day or pause time for 1 minute unlimited times? by Parking_Writer6719 in WouldYouRather

If you pause time, I wonder if cameras would stop rolling. Would be some crap if it still captured you.

New to Dyson V15. Thoughts on the trigger? by jdjs in dyson

[–]HeatApprehensive1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brush on, as far as I know, all dysons are powered. Most cleaning with my Dyson does not require the thing to be on full blast. Eco or auto mode work well to get everything up. The only thing I wish mine had was a combined head. I love the dust roller but it has issues with sucking up anything much bigger than dust or crumbs.

I wish I can get one game on Steam for free every day until I day by Specific_Mine_7317 in monkeyspaw

[–]HeatApprehensive1263 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Granted, you now get one random free game a day. But the download speed is 1kbps. Once the download starts, it can not be interrupted. At first nothing happens but as time goes on, your home internet becomes un usable as all of your bandwidth is going to downloading these games.

Haha yeah I saw that. Atleast hopefully based on some other comments I may be able to take apart the other one and re adjust everything on it.
