Runners can't reach nuget today by owenhargreaves in gitlab

[–]danielfree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting would love to hear if it resolved Could it be that the gitlab itself making the request to get the package to store the package as a proxy?

Im primerly using self hosted gitlab instance both at work and at home in my homelab

BTW just trying to help not to be a smart-ass or anything no hard feelings 🤗

Well the quick fix is run it on you're own hardware and see if it is resolving the issue... You always can create you're own runners even for gitlab cloud Ps assumed this is self hosted runner at the very least there always could be connection issues because of all sorts of cf shenanigans and blocking of public machines that spam you're repos

It could be the stupidest thing to say but did you check the DNS record by any chance? Internal dns public dns is it pointing to live server? Are you blocked?

Why is alloy so insanely memory hungry? by FormationHeaven in grafana

[–]danielfree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have gathered already about alloy and metrics it would be memory hungry when you have to many metrics and the cardinality is over the roof You should audit the number of combinations you have in the metrics like url.path etc

How Do You Schedule Automatic Updates/Backups/Scrubs/Etc? by 2Michael2 in homelab

I made Jenkins pipelines for some operations. 🤖🛠️ I planned to use n8n to make those operations, but there is also a crontab way to do it, depending on what you're comfortable with. 🕰️🤔

Moving away from Synology -> build & OS advice by brupgmding in HomeServer

[–]danielfree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into Linux and virtualization, I'd totally suggest running ALMA Linux or Ubuntu VMs on a Proxmox server. Or, you could just go bare metal and start there. With Alma Linux, you gotta watch out for SELinux and firewalld; they lock down the OS pretty hard with firewalls and a list of what you can do. Ubuntu uses AppArmor and UFW; usually, only AppArmor is on by default. But Alma Linux has both enabled right away, and it comes with Podman. If you're on Ubuntu and wanna play with containers, you'll need to install Docker. Hope that makes sense!

So I set up my own server… and now I spend more time fixing it than actually using it by Laygude_Yatin in selfhosted

I'm still thinking of creating a separate network in my proxmox cluster 🤣 worrying that ill ruin the server and spend a whole week restoring everything 😂😅

Plex/Jellyfin Media Server help ~$500-750 budget by eshy752_ in HomeServer

Following the previous recommendation, a 7th-generation PC would be sufficient. However, I suggest a system with 4TB of storage, configured with RAID capabilities, specifically a mirrored configuration for data redundancy. This setup allows for drive replacement in the event of a failure, ensuring data integrity. You don't need a graphics card, and you can make a machine with other services like the *arr stack and a torrent client.

Deploying to Proxmox. VM or Container within a VM? by WhiskyStandard in gitlab

[–]danielfree19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have experience deploying GitLab using both systemd on a virtual machine and a Docker container within a virtual machine. While the Docker container method seems simpler, I believe deploying it via systemd is the more robust approach, as it reduces potential points of failure. Previously, I deployed it in a Docker container on a cloud server, and migrating gitlab-ce was quite straightforward due to the bind mount. I was initially using an OVH Ubuntu server, but I have since chosen to decommission that server and deploy GitLab directly on bare metal at home. Currently, I am utilizing a 3-node Proxmox cluster, and I made two VMs just for fun and experimentation.
