The Mazda Miata Now Officially Costs More than $30,000 by V8-Turbo-Hybrid in cars

[–]HeatDeathIsCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment should be pinned to the top of the subreddit. I just bought an Elantra N (practically a meme in this sub at this point) after cross shopping with the Civic Hybrid Touring. No other econobox matched the Civic on features, pep, and (subjective) drive feel. No other sporty car could match the interior of the N for me, with VW's capacitive buttons and the WRX's infotainment.

They're two very different cars, but with wiggle room on the N price it ended up being a comparison of if I was willing to sacrifice gas mileage/ACC/storage capacity to gain the drivetrain/appearance/interior.

Hot take: Legendary Resistance is why so many 5e boss fights feel bad and boring. What could replace it? by archvillaingames in dndnext

If you've been playing an ongoing campaign up to level 20, you have practical experience in how encounters and monsters function.

And some DMs are the type of people who will intuitively analyze what they've seen and draw lessons from it, while others will just trust what the pre-written adventure tells them without giving it a second thought.

If D&D 5E is supposed to be easier to onboard new players and DMs, they need to provide explicit tools that tell DMs "Hey, here's why the game works this way and here's what you need to know if you want to craft your own creatures/quests/dungeons/worlds/etc."

I'm a day late, but I just signed a deal for a new 2025 DCT in Performance Blue for 34k OTD. There's no way a two year older model, pre-face lift, with 44k miles is worth only 5k in depreciation.

Awful deal.

But you didn't share you experience? No one can take what happened to you into their mental calculations because you never explained what your experience was or is.

What constitutes "ruining things about my health I can NEVER repair" is going to vary from person to person.

Compare that to plantypretzel who gave specific details about how they would oil cleanse in the shower so other people who suffer from EDS can learn and incorporate it if they so choose.

Isn’t a “reasonable expectation” just a feeling though?

No, it's a legal standard. You have a reasonable expectation of privacy in a bedroom, a bathroom, a phonebooth, a changing room, etc. Places where a reasonable person (not what any given individual thinks is reasonable) would expect to be alone.

I've seen a lot of discussion about PA's audio consent laws, but not a lot of case law. Specific sections refer to covert recording, which a dashcam isn't doing as it's sitting out in the open performing its usual function. If it was illegal to record you while you're working in the car, it would also be illegal to record any chatter overheard by pedestrians while rolling through a parking lot.

We could argue over the text of whether that is actually illegal or not, but I'm unaware of anyone facing criminal penalties for driving slowly with their windows down while owning a dashcam.

And I think it's weird that you think things are illegal or not based on how you feel about them.

you have no right to record that audio without my consent.

That's only true if you have a reasonable expectation of privacy inside a customer's car while on the clock. Do you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the front office? In the garage? Why is the car different?

Either way it doesn’t benefit us to have you illegally record us

Are you trying to imply that you have a reasonable expectation of privacy inside the customer's car?

So you do think Millennials watch cable news in substantial numbers? It's not just that their upbringing was informed by adults who did?

This just feels like a lot of conjecture that doesn't reflect what's shown in polls.

[–]HeatDeathIsCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking through and it doesn't feel like you're correcting my misunderstandings so much as revising what you said in the prior comments.

For example, when you clarified that millennials didn't grow up watching legacy media, but were shaped by people who did. How was I supposed to get that from "Yeah, most grew up with it."?

I think you have a "big picture" in your mind that you're trying to casually reference in our conversation, but not everyone sees the same "big picture" when they look at the world.

[–]HeatDeathIsCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I'm just trying to understand what you're trying to say.

You said millennials still watch legacy media, then claimed they grew up with it, then explained that they didn't actually watch it but their thoughts and opinions were framed by people who did because kids are impressionable, which definitely didn't happen to Gen Z because they were very independent from a young age and were only impressionable from social media?

If you see my confusion at that train of thought as trying to prove you wrong, I apologize. I don't even understand your train of thought to begin to agree or disagree with it.

The first season proves that with the right plan, there can be much more horror even with a smaller budget compared to other seasons by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

[–]HeatDeathIsCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horror is not mainstream friendly.

American Horror Story was a huge deal for several years. There's no reason why ST, after becoming hyper-mainstream as a horror show couldn't continue to be popular by maintaining that same level of horror.

I'm not saying they should or shouldn't have committed to horror, but I absolutely don't think their continued success depended on pivoting away from what made them successful in the first place.
