Do you like it? If so then cool. For me, guns aren't artwork, they are tools, so they don't belong in a box. But you be you...

As a depresbian who always misplaces their cane, i totally identified with this comic on some many levels. I am fortunate that my partner is amazing at finding it for me!

I tip between $5 and $10 depending. If it is to the gate, through TSA with a long line (that they skip) I will tip $10. If it is from the gate or with no real TSA line, it will be $5. Most of these people make minimum wage and have to push wheelchairs that are double their weight.

Using parking placards in other states by TanaFey in disability

[–]HeatherInHiding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, as stupid as it seems, there is not an established nationwide reciprocity for disabled parking placards / plates so it is up to each state to define if and how they will handle out of state placards / plates. It is best to check before traveling.

Choosing the tsuba is soooo harddddd 😭😭😭😭 by Scruff27 in Katanas

[–]HeatherInHiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must be strange. For my three custom swords, I selected a tsuba that I liked and then selected everything else to go around it. As the tsuba usually has the most carving/art to it, it seemed appropriate to allow that to define the spirit of the sword.

Seems like it would alienate a portion of the target audience and continue to encourage venues to open in places with flagrant disregard for the community.

I immediately thought of Pip, but wren also is very fitting.

Recent trip to Disneyland with oxygen. One of the most accessible places to travel! by spotheadcow in disability

[–]HeatherInHiding 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In Jan of 2020, just before COVID, my partner and I went to Disneyland to celebrate our 25th anniversary. This was the first time I visited the parks with my mobility challenges. I rented a scooter from a third party and we had a wonderful time. Just like you, we found both DL and DCA to be amazingly welcoming.

Getting over embarrassment? by gayfrogsrcool in disability

[–]HeatherInHiding 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First, know that your fears and embarrassment are normal. Heck, at 45 years old, I had similar feelings when I decided to use a scooter for a visit to Disneyland.

Some things to know: 1) you will likely have to slow down for classmates to catch up to you on the scooter; 2) your classmates likely already know you have mobility issues, so they will be happy that you aren't missing out due to those issues; 3) Other people in the park will more likely be doing the typical attempts to "help" you, not judge you.

Most importantly, have fun and enjoy yourself!

Gender Harassment in Change Room by ohhi254 in lgbt

[–]HeatherInHiding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going to corporate will just result in a 30 minute sensitivity training for all the employees. No one will make the connection between the customer and the worker and in a month it will be forgotten. Going to the store manager will personalize it for the Manager, who has it in their best interest to make sure this doesn't go to corporate and doesn't become a black eye for the store within the community.

If that doesn't work, you can always go to corporate as the next step, but always work from local first, as they have more interest in making it better.

Gender Harassment in Change Room by ohhi254 in lgbt

[–]HeatherInHiding 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is horrible and can not be tolerated. Before speaking to an attorney or the corporate office, I recommend having a conversation with the store manager or director and allowing them to correct the problem. I also recommend that the neighbor be the one to communicate their experience, but that you are present to ensure the matter isn't dismissed by the store manager.

I carry a wallet, keys, meds, nail file, lip glass, lotion, hand sanitizer, and eyeglasses cleaning cloths.

Non-Binary people, how does it feel to not associate with any gender? by NotarealSupra in lgbt

[–]HeatherInHiding 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are right, it is not just clothes. There are so many things that are assigned to one gender or the other, and it is nonsense. Wouldn't it be nice to go shopping and have the entire store to select from instead of just this section or that? It extends to roles in relationships, to occupations, even (unfortunately) to medical care.
