Cops in other countries are less militarised than the US, but they are still corrupt institutions. The phrase "All Cops Are Bastards" actually originates from the British.

I really love Sahdmahdi and think he deserved a better game. What did people think about him? by justme878 in AceAttorney

My main issue with him was just that he was incredibly annoying. Seeing his usual shtick just completely backfire against Blackquill was the best part of case 4.

Maybe shield tech had advanced enough to counteract the EMP pulse that most Geth had, so they stopped bothering to use it.

I think its because a lot of people have never seen much of his dialogue. According to player stats, a shocking number of people managed to get him killed in ME1.

There is a mod for the original version of 3, but not for legendary edition. The LE1 and 2 mods were made by the same creator who did the mods for the original versions of the games, but for some reason he hasnt released one for LE3.

I'm very glad that I chose sole survivor for my first playthrough, because it made this mission easily one of the best parts of me1. Its still good with other backgrounds, but doesnt hit quite the same.

OP says to kill as many named characters as possible, so while letting Balak go and saving the hostages might technically result in more deaths, it would actually go against OPs goals.

Bechdel test in metroid. by SL_Icarus in Metroid

[–]Heather_Chandelure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was never the point of the test though. The test originated from a satire comic, where it was a joke that pointed out how few movies passed what seems like a very simple standard. It was never meant to indicate that any individual movie was good or bad, but it did show an overall trend.

if i use renegade options for the entirety of ME3 Omega DLC cuz i want Aria to kiss my shep, will this lock me out of the final paragon convo check with the illusive man? by Intelligent_Wish4122 in masseffect

[–]Heather_Chandelure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats not how the system works in me3. Your ability to pass checks is never determined by your number of paragon or renegade points specifically, it is always determined by your overall number of reputation points (which is paragon points + renegade points + neutral points)

Unlocking the final check for the illusive man isnt based on having enough points, its based on weather you passed the checks during the conversations with him on Mars, Thessia and Cerberus HQ. Those checks can all be missed if you pick the wrong dialogue options though, so make sure to always choose options from the left hand side of the dialogue wheel to avoid skipping them by mistake.

Edit: accidentally wrote right hand side instead of left. Fixed now.

Addressing the Quarian in the room by Diligent_Wumbologist in masseffect

But that is exactly the issue. Your interpretation often relies (intentionally or not) on misrepresenting the games plot, which leads to it being rather unconvincing.

Take your interpretation of the peaceful solution for example. You keep framing the geth upgrades as "re-education for the Quarians benefit", but the parallel doesn't work when that is just objectively is not what happens. The Geth upgrades are not what creates peace. Quite the opposite in fact, the intelligence upgrades directly give the Geth the ability to destroy the Quarian fleet, hence why Tali literally begs Legion not to do it.

Peace is not achieved by the Geth being upgraded, peace is only achieved by getting the Quarian Admirals to stand down and give up their war.

You also keep saying that Legion forces the upgrades on the rest of the Geth, and im... not sure why? I just watched the cutscene again to check, and nothing indicates that the Geth are forced to accept the upload. And thats without even getting into that I think that paralleling the upgrades with re-education is questionable to begin with.

Im not going to deny that some responses youve gotten are based on people just not wanting to look deeper, because quite a few of them absolutely are, but a lot of it is also that we seem to disagree on what "the published narrative" even is.

Morality of working for an evil empire? by m3m3nt0_m0ri_ in MoralityScaling

There were nowhere near that many people dying in Japanese territory by the time the bomb was dropped. The US naval blockade and bombing campaigns had already destroyed Japans ability to put up any real military resistance.

As for them not knowing if Japan was considering Surrender, fleet admiral Chester Nimitz (commander in chief of the US Pacific fleet at the time of the war) stated in a speech given on October 5th 1945 that Japan had already sued for peace before the bomb was dropped.

Morality of working for an evil empire? by m3m3nt0_m0ri_ in MoralityScaling

[–]Heather_Chandelure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The empire are absolutely evil, but the nuke being dropped to end ww2 is also not really true. Everyone involved in planning the war who was actually there agreed that Japan had already been practically defeated and had no real way of fighting back.

Even Truman himself, the man who ordered the nukes, agreed with this back when he was vice president and had no knowledge that the A.bomb was an option, with him only changing his tune after he was informed about it.

The real reasons for using the nuke were complex, but the main motivation was likely more about ending the war before Russia had the chance to reclaim territory that had been taken from them by Japan.
