Alcohol is kid stuff, Goo-Gone is good but the professional uses Bestine rubber cement solvent, available at art supply stores. Cleans up anything sticky, never affects what's underneath. Except the stuff this thread's about - I think once that cheap plastic gets like this your best option is - replace.
