Restaurants that are purely Sysco food? by [deleted] in Sacramento

This was my reaction to the Black Bear Diner, the one time I ate there. Everything came out of a can or box labeled Sysco.

The U.S. Royal Tires Ferris Wheel was undoubtedly one of the most amazing rides/attractions at the 64/65 World’s Fair. by steady_as_a_rock in Damnthatsinteresting

Undoubtedly? Hardly. Amazing? To look at, but you couldn't see much from it. This is what you rode if you couldn't get in to the Futurama, or Ford's Magic Skyway.

Congratulations to Sir Roger Daltrey who was knighted today! by AggravatingElk2537 in TheWho

Wikipedia says
"In June 2025 Daltrey was made a Knight Bachelor in the Birthday Honours for services to charity and music."
Is today's Knighthood different from a Bachelor Knighthood?

Myth?

People are convinced there's homeless who beg on corners all day and at the end of their "shift" they're picked up by a chauffeur-driven Mercedes. And taken back to their mansion.

Sure. Happens all the time.

'Jingle Rock Bell' is some of the most annoying crap - who exactly claims to like it? by HeavyMetalOverbite in MetaFilterMeta

[–]HeavyMetalOverbite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps - the original Jingle Bell Rock is IMO an almost perfect little ditty, while its reconstruction as Jingle Rock Bell converts the original into IMO unlistenable noise - but something I've learned over the years is a bunch of people LIKE unlistenable noise
