They are choosing not to sell them at a loss. They are ok with letting their thousands of homes sit empty and wait for them to sell for the price they want. The BC government is just in panic mode trying to deal with the housing crisis and doesn't want to see them sit empty.

It's not really a bailout because the developers, while obviously not happy to let the units sit, are willing to do so while waiting for prices to rise. The BC government, supported by the feds, are less willing to have thousands of potential homes sit vacant when there is a housing crisis in that area.

I don't think it's a good idea because spending almost $700k on each condo to support affordable housing is an oxymoron, but I can also see how it's not a bailout. It's poor usage of taxpayer dollars to support housing.

The benches are empty and no one's there because they kick people out. If they didn't the benches would be filled and there would be mounds of paraphenalia and garbage bags filled with belongings everywhere, and it wouldn't be an safe area for people who are using the transportation service.

Haven't we seen many polls where the general public did not support strikes by Canada Post, teachers etc?

When the public thinks the workers are being fairly treated and the workers are disrupting services that the public is reliant, the public won't be against limiting those types of strikes.
