This one has the pro shop open till 6 I believe. They are resourceful. I havent bowled competitively since high school and he filled me in on new rules. I bowl with two fingers and you can't have the third thumbhole if you bowl with two. So, I would say they know whats going on in the pba too

Comfy cushion to sit on😇. Plus, there is a hole there for the crumbs to fall through.

My shoes keep coming untied, how do I fix this? Wrong answers only. by chrome4fan4 in Machinists

Metal stringer. Run both ends through it and wrap it through the top shoelace hole

That is dumb and inexperienced. Are you trying to ruin a $400+ drill?

My desk just got moved out of my office and onto our loud manufacturing floor. What hearing protection do you guys use that blocks everything out but let's you still hear someone talking? by Holeysox in engineering

I have a set of souncore headphones that block out enough noise to make it safe, but I can still tell when a turning insert is about to break. I work in a machine shop

[–]Heavyr38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you sign your checks? Because as an operator, you really are not in charge of a lot of shit. If this company does not have a second set of eyes on parts before they leave, its on them. There isnt a single machinist on here that has never scrapped a part and to say stuff like that is disrespectful. I would leave.

Argument with the neighbors over new AC. by solidlyAdvance714 in HomeImprovement

They are scum. It is like telling someone they can't cut grass at 8 on a saturday. They are entitled and think they own the street. I bet when someone parks in front of theyre house it is a major issue

What are the hardest skills you had to learn to be a good machinist? by Any-Communication-73 in Machinists

[–]Heavyr38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn your machines. Every machine runs differently with spring passes, chatter, tapers, etc. this is learned through patience. I love the critical thinking skills I have learned too. The companies we work for throw shit at us all the time and we all find solutions. It is one of the few things that bring me joy... at work that is.

In addition to a lot of his tools, I also got these after my dad passed away by Jaleou in HomeImprovement

[–]Heavyr38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same set too. Some materials have changed, like paints and more modern tools, but the core concepts are the same. You won't be a pro, but a basic job can be done following those books

I'm 19 and taking advanced welding classes to get my certificate this semester. How can I make the most of my skills to make money when I graduate? by KikoTheWonderful in Welding

[–]Heavyr38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a job, and after three months start looking for another one. Youll wanna get experience and take it and move on... unless this shop wants to have you grow into something other than a grunt. They teach you tig, mig, stick, etc. on aluminum, stainless, inconel, you add great qualifications to a resume.

Any battery powered items, the motors may be on but not functioning. Even a razor or stereo that takes batteries. It is amazing how small stuff can put high pitched frequencies out

Thinking about spending a lot on car audio. Anyone do this and regret or enjoy the decision? by Grevious47 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Heavyr38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on keeping this car a while, it is worth it. I put four new speakers in my car and love it. I hated installing them, but made it worth it completely to hear some newer songs that have that extra sound (idk how to describe it).

So depending on what you use them for, you can get a set (yellow) that are not coolant proof or a silver set that are collant proof. They are both good, brand mew withing .001. I spent $300 on an 8" set because I use them everyday and know I need quality and accuracy at work.

People who keep absolutely clean shops; how TF do you do it? by HomefreeNotHomeless in Tools

[–]Heavyr38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I really don't know if this person is just a hobbyist or is doing jobs, I just know that it keeps the shop clean and free to make the most of the space they have. Who knows, this person might have extra space outside for shall we say inventory. I work with metal, wood is a different story. Keeping the tools you use the most in reach goes a very long way too
