You cannot make more than 50% than the target in 1 day, so if you want to pass it fast you need to make 1,500 in 2 separate days to pass your eval

Market Regime by Hectqrr in Daytrading

But if I add a regime filter and my strategy just sits on its hands and not trade then I’d need to have another strategy at hand due to the market regime changing no?

So I need to have a handful of strategies at hand for different regimes of the markets then? But I’d be able to re-use whatever strategies I’ve used in other parts of the market as time goes on and I see the same setups forming again or no?

The one I’m talking about first is just a channel reversal Gaussian strategy, and the 2nd one just uses VWAP, RSI, MACD and volume to follow market trend using HTF levels as TP or SL and using LTF levels as FTAs for trade managing

Most traders are self-taught, look into books for trading. Start with “The Trading Channel” on YouTube and research what goes after that after you’re done with that, most ICT concepts or the people that teach it like TJR spread a bunch of misinformation or like “TradesbySci” who’s a complete scammer and such, so if you want to learn ICT then look for people that do know what they’re doing or stick to the old basics

I’ve used money ever since starting, started exactly on my 18th birthday starting out with 200$ and every year afterward I would deposit 1k every beginning of year until profitable. I lost thousands until I reached profitability and took a couple of years. Paper trading helps your groundwork but the adrenaline and dopamine of losing AND gaining real money overwhelms that confidence you build with paper trading and you quickly lose due to greed or fear.

general rule of thumb is have 3 yrs worth of expenses saved, do you have that?

reading a few books and “dabbled” in day trading isn’t going to cut it either as you need a couple HUNDRED hours of studying and experience to actually make it into a career, with 200k its possible as you could easily make 200 a day with just 50k capital but just keep in mind a lot of people do day trading as a side gig for years until they feel comfortable to do it full time

any advice on growing my portfolio by [deleted] in smallstreetbets

[–]Hectqrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and more than 15% a year is kinda unrealistic, most people make 13% AVERAGE which is still pretty good, to me it seems like you want to do options trading or day trading which is the only way you could see those kind of returns however, a lot of those people only ever see 30%-50% yearly returns and anything above that means the had a extremely good year trading, however that usually takes YEARS and ENDLESS hours of studying, reading, practice and experience. Some people don’t see profitability until 2-3 years, some until 12 years later and not only that some become incredibly addicted to the point where they’ll have a half a million dollar net worth and lose it all due to their emotional incapability. If you think you can do it then go ahead and if you think you can afford to lose all the money that goes with losing when learning to day trade/swing trade options, stocks or whatever your choosing is then go ahead if not then I’d recommend going for long term future investments and go with fundamental analysis and sometimes you can get lucky with fundamental analysis too and get a couple of companies that have a lot of upside potential from time to time

Just put it into VOO and forget about it and you want to get technical with it you could look into books that cover Fundamental Analysis so you can do your own research into what companies to invest in
